I was trying to use a new app on my PC to mirror my iPhone as I didn't want to have to keep taking off my headset just to answer a quick text message over and over. However, the app Apower Mirror, once opened on my PC, while trying to connect to my phone out of no where pops up on my headset prompting me to accept or decline the terms of use. At first I thought, oh nice, this app came pre installed in my quest, but because it kept getting in the way of me trying to mirror my iPhone to my PC. I tried disabling it as I thought it might be like samsung's screen share and be a system level app and could not get to it in my settings which seemed strange to me. So I then go try to find it in my app drawer remembering I had never seen it there but it was unavailable there also. I then had a thought to check unknown sources and boom there it is. I uninstall it thinking I could always install it again if needed, but then when I try to connect to my phone again it pops up on my quest again. I delete again and retry my phone, boom there it is again.
This is kind of alarming, I realized that I had my quest plugged into my computer after a bit, but at no point did I get any indication from the desktop app that this install would happen. This begs the question, If a user had malicious on their PC unknowingly, could someone forcibly install a malicious app without them even approving it on either device??!! Just install and open it automatically, possibly with no indicator other than an app icon in the tray (which might get ignored depending on when it pops up)? What really bothers me about this is that
1, I never tried connecting or even tried installing this app to my quest. 2. I even disabled apps from unknown sources and it still installed and opened.
Not exactly sure what I'm looking for by posting this but I feel it's worth a mention.
