Asgard's Wrath Download Issues

Hi,

Whenever I try to download Asgard's Wrath, the game just stops downloading when it's at about 20 GB. When I check my SSD, there is a 129GB sized file called ''Staging'', and in it is a file called ''sinzaru games inc wrath. When I try to redownload it, I can't since theres no more room until I remove the Staging file. So when I remove this file, I can download it again but then again the same issue comes. I have 140GB free, but still it says after a couple of minutes downloading that my SSD is completely full.

That's so dumb, lame, bad... I don't want to install the game on a different drive. I want to install it on the drive that every single other game I have is installed...but it won't.  Almost don't even want to play the game now. Considering this has been an issue for several months, do I really want my money to go to a company that will not address such a problem? Creating a folder on C works, so there is a solution. Just not a happy solution...update: not a solution at all. Didn't work. Requesting refund.

I have an oculus quest and had issues installing the game. After Reading these forums I tried some of what was recommended here but without Luck. I opened a ticket for oculus support and i tried what I was suggested to do and it worked. I can now play the game. Here is what I was told to do. Repair the software; 1) go to www.oculus.com/setup and click "Download Oculus Rift software". 2) Select "Repair" (Accept if Windows or anti virus ask if you really want to run it or disable it while doing this. Just remember to enable it when you finish). 3) Allow the repair process to run, download and install. 4) Launch the oculus app.
Now Enroll the software in the Public test channel; 1) open the oculus app on Your computer. 2) Select "settings" in the left menu. 3) Select the Beta tab. 4) NeXT to to Public test channel click "enroll".
After I did this, I downloaded the game (again) and right before it was done I turned windwos defender off. The game was installed, I turned my Windows defender back on and launched the game. Voila!.

Hope this helps someone else.

Same issue as many others: game downloads but won't install, with a message saying my antivirus has prevented it. This happens with or without the antivirus on, and clearly has nothing to do with the antivirus. Happened with Chronos and Edge of Nowhere. I managed to get Chronos to install today by creating a new download location (settings > general > library locations) and making the new folder the default. Worked fine, and I played the game for a while today.

Tonight I tried to download EoN, but it had the same issue as my first attempt with Chronos: it downloads all the way, then says it can't install because of my antivirus. I am now trying to download it again into a new default location. If that works, then the only way to download games from the Oculus store is to set up a new default download location each time. I used to be able to download Oculus apps fine, so this is a new issue from a recent update. Also, I install games to a secondary drive, never to C:, so I am literally just creating a new folder on my G: drive each time I want to have a go at installing an Oculus game. My original folder (that I have used for a year without issue until yesterday) was G:\oculus_games.

Will update if this workaround works twice.

As a general note, I am appalled with how flaky the headset and software are. I had various issues with my first CV1 headset and have had plenty with the Rift S. Whenever the Oculus software updates, I hold my breath! I never know what new issues will have been introduced. For an app store to not successfully enable you to access apps... is a new one for me. Appalling. I bought Asgard's Wrath in a recent sale, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to spend a day downloading something that likely won't install.

Update: Edge of Nowhere just installed successfully, after having issues earlier. Same issue and solution with Chronos.

So... to those having the 'antivirus prevented installation' nonsense, try this:

1. Create a new download location, settings > general > library locations. It can be on the same drive as your current one, but needs to be a new empty folder with a different name.
2. Set this new location to be your default.
3. I delete my old download location at this stage, so that I only have one, but it might be okay to leave it - I haven't tested it. The important thing seems to be to make your new folder the default so that it will be used to install the next game you download.
4. Download your game in the usual way from your library. It should install once it has downloaded, as you'd expect.

And when you want to play something else... well, you'll need to go through all this again, adding a new download location and making it the default. You can't install new games to the folder you already use. So, it's likely you'll need a new folder for each game.

I hope this helped someone.

Another thing I can't rule out is that of pausing your download being a possible issue. On the attempts when games installed correctly, I did not pause the download. On failed attempts, I did. This is likely just a coincidence, but I thought I should mention it.

I wonder if that was the problem.
Started the download and had to pause due to a work issue. (no not installing it at work :)) When I started the install again it said it was optimizing my download. Then after an hour it said my AV blocked the install. Wouldn't start the install again until I rebooted. At 80 GB a pop for the first part of the install it sucks.....
I will update this after I have a resolution.

I live in Italy, and the only way to download Asgard's Wrath was by using a VPN connection in Canada.
With many other locations my download failed after some GB.
Oculus website have issues too, in the past week i was not able to login anymore by using my facebook account, i need to use a VPN for that too.

I do believe it was the issue with pausing the download and restarting it. But I did go through the exclusion process and do have my AV currently disabled. I believe its the process that verifies the files after there is an interruption or paused. It finished the install the third time.

Step 3 solved this issue for me, hopefully it will help anyone else with the same problem!

(From Oculus
Support)

You want to be
sure Windows Firewall is enabled but any other security software is
temporarily uninstalled.

The Defender
needs some settings changed below:

1.
Select Start > Settings > Update & Security >
Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.

2.
Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage
settings.

3.
Turn off the following:

·
Windows Defender firewall notifications

·
Real time protection

·
Cloud delivered protection

·
Automatic sample submission

·
Controlled folder access

·
Reboot your computer

Try the install
again after the reboot if you run into issues the next thing to try is
creating another library location to install the game on other than the one
you have on there now.

This workaround
has helped some other users get the game installed.

If after trying
the above steps you are still running into issues Please use our log
gathering tool to generate some logs for me to review. This will help me
determine if there are any conflicts present in the configuration that
could be causing the issues you're experiencing. The steps to generate logs
are:

1.
Open the Run window (Windows key + R).

2.
Enter and run: C:\Program
Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusLogGatherer.exe

·
The above link is the default directory. Bear in mind that
if you installed Oculus Home to another drive you will need to update the
command with the correct file path.

3.
Select the checkbox next to ‘Full logs’.

4.
Select "1 day" from the "Collect last"
drop down list.

5.
Wait for the log collection to finish. This can take some
time to complete.

6.
The program will automatically generate a zip file
containing your logs, which will be saved to your desktop automatically.

7.
Attach the newly created zip file to your next support
response.

I experienced the same issue. Download and install loop was never ending. It was an incredible time loss, and very frustrating. I installed Oculus with repair option. I went through tens of Oculus updates, and then the driver updates which I had done both of them recently. I downloaded the Asgard's Wrath. I turned off the Windows security as explained by others before me. Asgard's Wrath installed finally but it took around two hours to complete the installation. And then another one hour to verify! I wonder why it is taking so long to install and verify. This is a high end gaming computer. Such tips and tricks should be part of the installation guideline.
