Audio Related Things Not Working with Rift S

mravocadothx

I've been having this issue ever since I got my Rift back out of storage for the summer (it's way too hot out to use it during the summer). I haven't had an issue with this in the previous year but now I am. The only things that lag are things audio related, weird right? For example, in Beat Saber I cannot hear the menu music and everything is smooth and fine, but when I go into a song only the notes and audio are laggy, I will attach a Medal clip of what this looks like (I recommend watching it to know exactly what I'm seeing as it is such a weird bug). In my headset I get a weird quiet pop sound. I've been on support for over a week and they have awfully slow responses, so I thought I'd post my issue here aswell to try my luck. Here is a list of troubleshooting I have tried.

Reinstalling Oculus Software

Uninstalling USB Drivers

Trying Multiple Display and USB 3.0 Ports

 Updating Drivers

Opting in for Public Test Channel

Uninstalling Applications

Trying both Steam and Oculus Games

And More.

Hello again!!! I saw your reply and booted up the Oculus software, and to my surprise at the top of the app in red letters it said there were new drivers required for my headset. I downloaded them and rebooted my computer and everything is working perfect now. These drivers must have just been released as I have already previously tried downloading them via the support Oculus folder. Thank You

Hey @mravocadothx, could you send us your support ticket number so we can take a look at it to ensure we are not repeating steps here as well? Issues with lag keeping you out of the games you want to play is never a fun experience, and we would love to provide some extra steps. Thank you for all the current steps you have tried! Just to be sure we understand correctly, when you have your audio output set to the Rift S, your entire PC lags, but when set to your normal audio devices, you only get in-game lag (for VR games) and the rest of your PC runs fine? Does anything change by chance if you disable all audio completely? Have you, or are you able to by chance test the headset on another PC just to make sure its not the headset somehow?

We agree this is a weird bug, and we would like to look further into things that may have happened over the summer while your Rift S was in storage. Any major changes to the PC itself? Maybe a new component? Downloaded software? do you have any "Game improvement" software running? (Such as GeForce Experience optimization)

In any case, we hope to assist you further, and appreciate your patience while we all work on this together. We hope to hear from you soon!

My ticket number is 7833118. Yes, when my audio output is set to Rift S, everything lags. When I set it to my normal audio device, my computer is fine and the only thing that lags then are the Beat Saber notes and audio. I don't believe Windows allows me to not have an audio output selected, but when I turn the audio to 0 for Rift S audio my whole computer still lags. I don't have any other machines with DisplayPort .

Over the summer I have upgraded my M.2 storage and that's it. As for software I have downloaded the following: Intelligent Standby List Cleaner, Microsoft Powertoys, VBCABLE, Winaero Tweaker, and Medal.

We see that your agent is providing you some great troubleshooting steps and is reviewing your logs looking for what could be causing the issue.

In the meantime, can you try to disable any of the programs or apps that you have open or running in the background? Let's see if just having the Oculus PC app running will help.
