B Button on right meta quest controller not working

Hello, recently my B button on my right controller stopped being responsive. If I press it really hard and wiggle it around I can get it to activate, but most of the time pressing the button does nothing. I haven't really used the controller that much, so it's not worn out from overuse. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Hi! Thanks for the support. I ended up using WD-40 Specialist Contact Cleaner, and my button is functional again! In case anyone finds this forum post, please note this may impact warranty and is not recommended by Meta. But it worked for me. I just sprayed it around the edges of the button and pushed it a bunch to work it in, and it started working again after a few minutes.

Update -- the B button is no longer working at all. Also, the touch sensitivity on all buttons and right joystick isn't working either.

Hey there, @fr3ak1shh! We know having controller issues can really take the fun out of VR, so we'd be glad to lend a hand with that! To clarify, is this the Right Touch Controller for the Meta Quest 2, or a different headset? Aside from that, we'd like you to try out and answer a few things for us, to help us get a better grasp of what might be causing this. When you get the chance, please go through the following and get back to us if anything changes:

  • When does this issue occur? Does it happen only in certain games, or all environments/apps you've tried?
  • If you haven't already, please clean your controller following the maintenance and care guidelines.
    • You can also use compressed air to remove any debris that may be inside the controller
  • Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect button movement or controller detection (such as controller covers, controller attachments, etc.)
  • Remove the battery from the controller for at least 5 minutes, then replace with a brand new battery.
  • Unpair and pair again the controller to the headset

We look forward to hearing from you, so take your time with that and get back to us when you can!

Thanks for the swift reply, @fr3ak1shh! We do want to confirm for you that certain cleaning methods may void or impact your device's warranty, and highly suggest reading through our Limited Warranty for more information if you need it in the future.
