Bad display?

I'm having an issue and I'm not sure where to start.

I followed the instructions and updated the firmware. Head tracking works and the blue light comes on. When I look into the rift it has a lot of green lines with some red pixels. The configuration demo can barely be seen behind these lines initialy and eventually can’t be seen at all as the screen gets brighter. The lines run vertically.

Did I get a bad unit? I tried hooking it up with direct HDMI connection and then with the DVI adapter with the same results. I made sure to try the built in Tuscany demo and the same thing. Pixels just get brighter over time.
I have attached a picture from inside the rift of what I’m seeing. Contacted tech support to see if its a bad unit or some kind of configuration issue.

Any insights? The pixels dont move or change when I pan around but the display does flicker and get brighter.

My system is windows 7 64bit,
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz
Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570
Thanks.

A quick update. If I launch the configuration demo, as soon as it launched you can see the start image and you can see a moving image briefly when moving the rift. Its like the pixels come on and freeze up so any new image information doesn't show and all the pixels turn on. You can briefly see a ghost image before even that gets wiped out by the pixels getting bright.

Take off the small front panel (where the two cables run into the display housing) and make sure both cables are securely seated.

You can remove it by simply sliding it up, and it will pop off. Also be sure to remove the protective plastic from the cables!

Thanks Veraxus for the suggestions. I tried both of those prior with no change.

It's like the screen doesn't update the information and all the pixels come on and stay on. It's weird, the image will display partially even allowing some movement for a brief second then the pixels will just get brighter. Even the initial image is ghosted and not fully formed.

Seriously, a bummer, but that's how it goes.

Yeah, that sounds like something more serious than cable trouble. Time to contact support.

Sorry man. That definitely sucks.

If it's any consolation, the SDK is so broken at the moment that nothing works, anyway.

Well, maybe I'll get it fixed or replaced by the time everything else is working. Was stoked to finally try it. What's a little longer? Im going to try it on another computer just to make sure but it seems like it's a hardware issue at this point.

Well, I tried it out on another system and the same thing. It will slowly grow brighter and brighter and when 1st turned on will have a partial image that doesnt refresh and fades away. Heres hoping they take care of it quickly.

Looks like my hopes of getting this issue resolved quickly are not likley to be realized. I finally received a canned response from Customer support. The message asked me to provide all the information I had already provided in the initial message to technical support.

I have a feeling this is going to be a long frustrating process for getting issues resolved.

Oh well.

Worst case scenario you 'could' always risk it and buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 display from eBay and try swapping out the display from the Rift with the replacement and see if that works
