Batery Not Charging To 100%

Hi, I've had my quest for a couple of years. Just recently updated it with this latest firmware update and now the Quest won't charge to 100% anymore. Anytime I leave it charging it charges very slowly and there're some instances where it'll say it's at 100% but when I unplug it, it goes back down to 95% - 97%. I haven't seen the charging light go green not even once. I assume it's a firmware issue because I've been seeing people with the same problem and it hasn't done this before I updated it. My girlfriend even has this issue with her Quest. Is there any concrete fix to this at all? I've tried numerous things such as reboot looping and replugging it. All of that. I don't wish to factory reset but if it comes down to it, then I'll give it a go.

Hello there! Thank you for responding so quick. So it appears that the battery's life is as it should be, with the exception of the green indicator not flashing when completely charged. We strongly advise you to report this so that our engineering team can determine how many users are affected. We'll also provide a wonderful article on how to maximize battery life and how to report a bug below.

 

To report a bug from your headset:

  1. Presson your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
  2. Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
  3. Select Report problem.
  4. Follow the instructions to submit your bug report.

I have the exact same problem as mentioned above.  Since the update, the maximum charge I get is 97% and the light never turns green.

Good Afternoon,

Yes I am still experiencing the same problem.  Sometimes I will get the green light but not always and I never get a full battery anymore.  96% is the maximum I get.

  • What troubleshooting steps, if any, have you already attempted?   I used the headset until shutdown and charged it fully, that was the first time I got a green light but not 100%
  • How long are you able to use your headset before it powers off?  1h25min playing Red matter 2
  • Have you attempted to use a different wall port for charging purposes?  Yes no change.

Mine just started charging to 100 with green light at times and other times no green light but 100%.  There is no rhyme or reason as to when and why.  I generally use mine for 1 - 1.25 hour with no problem and still have 30% or so.

Hello, @LionColeWatson! Your device doesn't seem to be charging to 100%. We genuinely want you to have a fantastic time with your VR experience, so we'd be delighted to lend a hand! We'd like to provide you with a few steps that might help. Please continue with the following:

  • Attempt to charge the headset for 2 hours. The headset must be left powered off or in a sleep state during this time
  • Try a different Cable/Charger; if possible, test the cable and charger (adapter) separately to determine the faulty component
  • Try charging from a different Source (another PC or different wall outlet).

I have this same issue one 2 of my headsets. They both go to 97% as the other users stated. They both won't go green.

 Botth were working fine prior. What is the solution?
