Hi, I've had my quest for a couple of years. Just recently updated it with this latest firmware update and now the Quest won't charge to 100% anymore. Anytime I leave it charging it charges very slowly and there're some instances where it'll say it's at 100% but when I unplug it, it goes back down to 95% - 97%. I haven't seen the charging light go green not even once. I assume it's a firmware issue because I've been seeing people with the same problem and it hasn't done this before I updated it. My girlfriend even has this issue with her Quest. Is there any concrete fix to this at all? I've tried numerous things such as reboot looping and replugging it. All of that. I don't wish to factory reset but if it comes down to it, then I'll give it a go.

Hello there! Thank you for responding so quick. So it appears that the battery's life is as it should be, with the exception of the green indicator not flashing when completely charged. We strongly advise you to report this so that our engineering team can determine how many users are affected. We'll also provide a wonderful article on how to maximize battery life and how to report a bug below.

Exactly the same issue here. Since updating to v53 I've observed two charging changes/issues.
Firstly, when charging after use, the headset charges at a constant rate up until it reaches around 87% and then the charge rate drops, causing the remainder to take longer to get up to 100%.
Charge slows after 87%
Secondly, sometimes the headset only charges up to 96% and then the charge light stays orange, with occasional green flashes. The charge level remains at 96% with the headset stating it is charging on AC.Charge reaches 96% and stops

Well, I'm not sure what happened, but the Quest finally charged to 100% with a green light the other day. My assumption is either using the Quest charger (which is my fault since I've used my iPad charger prior. It never gave me issues until now, though) or turning off the wake-up from activity feature. I'll keep experimenting.

Hey there, @venusianpeach. Thanks for letting us know that your headset is charging once you changed to the Quest charger. If you find yourself in a similar situation with your headset not charging any longer, please let us know.

I have similar issues as well. Had the Quest 2 since launch, and always power off the quest, then charge until green, and then disconnect.
I noticed this change upon update to V53 - I am convinced the charging behaviour has changed since then. I've tried to troubleshoot various scenarios, with no success. I have also factory reset my Quest2, and reinstalled some, but not all my games.
While charging and after a couple of hours, quick pressing the power button (while wearing) briefly shows the HMD at 100% (although the last of four dots is still blinking). Leaving it for 4 hours plus shows the same, but still there is no green LED. Disconnecting power and booting the quest shows power at 97/98% and I can then use normally.
One interesting thing I have noted though is that if I put the quest into STANDBY, and then charge - the LED will after a short while turn green! (So it's not a faulty LED).
So behaviour is different between powered off and standby.
As the recommendation is to disconnect when fully charged, I'd prefer to have the HMD powered off, and fully charged ready for my next session.

Are you using the HMD with the external battery pack or are you just talking about standalone usage?

I am currently experiencing the same exact problem that Venusianpeach described in the original post. After the update headset charging light never turns green and charging to only 95-97%. Using only original charger. What now?

Howdy there, @Colelion! We completely understand your concerns about your headset not charging completely. We know how worrying this might be, so we'd like to step in and assist you in getting this resolved as quickly as possible. Please let us know how long you can use the headset before the battery runs out. Also, if could let us know if there's any LED light and what color it is when charging the headset.

the headset still works as before as far as battery life ( I can use it for workout for 1-1/2 + hours with plenty of batter left). It has an amber light when charging but never turns green. It only reaches 95-97%. I usually use it daily for boxing work out and it would charge in a matter of an hour. Now I can leave it for more than three hours and it does not go past 97%.
