Battery drain while playing

My Quest 2 battery currently is draining very quickly, even when connected to the link cable. Charging time is ~4 hours and on link I can get around an hour of playtime.

I'm using the original link cable, and from advice I had gotten in the past I also bought a pcie expansion card for my computer. That did not solve the issue. I have been looking around this forum and some other websites as well and so far nothing has solved my issue. (I have not tried everything since I do want to spend a lot more money than I already have.)

I'm a bit out of ideas and wanted reach out on here asking if someone has any recommendation?

Hey there, @luciousdev. We see that you are having issues with your Quest 2 dying too fast. We love gaming in VR, especially PCVR, for it's a unique experience not many get to have. We would love to work with you to solve this issue and bring you back to your own unique experience. Firstly, we would like to ask you a few questions below. You can also look here to see some advice on how to maximize the battery life.

  • How long does the battery last in stand alone?
  • Are you playing while it is charging?
  • Are you allowing the headset to charge for only 2 hours?

We hope to hear from you soon!

Hey there, My quest 2 currently lasts around 1 hour on stand alone. I'm generally not playing while it is charging. And im not allowing the headset to charge for only 2 hours, since that takes around 4 hours to charge for me. But would it be possible for the headset to not drain while playing using the link cable? Looking at the charger that comes included I assume that it uses around 10-15 watts of power, which should be enough for a usb-c port to charge while playing.

Thank you for clarifying with us, Luciousdev, as we understand that this can really disrupt amazing VR experiences. Therefore, we would be happy to look into other options we have available for you.
