Battery life and replacement

Aralmo

Hello, I think I overused my quest 2 the last year 😛
Battery life is less than an hour for me already, is it possible to replace it?

Thanks!

Hey there!

Not to worry, we can look into this for you.

  • Using cables and adapters other than the official charger can damage the battery slowly over time.
    • This is due to different chargers having different voltages and amperages.

  • Leaving the headset plugged in for days or weeks at a time can damage the battery over time, especially if the headset is on, or asleep rather than turned off.

If this sounds like your situation, don't fret we can troubleshoot your battery and potentially replace if necessary.

Let's start with the first couple ones and go from there:

  1. Attempt to charge the headset for 2 hours.
  2. Try a different Cable/Charger if possible.

Let us know if these two are unsuccessful, and we can continue!

Thanks for quick reply! I have been using the original link cable, elite strap and charger only, may be that I've played some long sessions connected to the computer?

I realised that it actually charges to 95%, but it discharges to 80 in just a couple minutes and then keeps discharging at a really quick rate by just being in the quest home.

I'm gonna try to leave it plugged for a couple of hours tomorrow and come back to you if that didn't worked.

Thanks!

No luck, I tried to charge it for 2 hours and it fully charges and all, but it lost short of 20% in 15 minutes in workrooms.

So I have a couple of questions.

What would be the next steps to send the headset for repair?
How much would it cost if a replacement needs to be done?
If possible what would be the approx ETA from spain? (I use them for work)

Thanks!

I am having the same issues, and less than 40 hours on the device.  I'm in Canada - is there someone who is able to provide me with support / further direction?

thanks

We are having the same issue with our Oculus. We have had it for almost 2 years. We use the original cord to charge and shut down completely when charging. We used to be able to play 2 full games of walkabout mini golf with 3 players but it shuts down after about 1 1/2 now.  Is there anyway to replace the batteries in these things??

That happened to mine but rather than sending it in, I am techy so decided to replace the internal battery myself.  I do not recommend it if you are not good with tools.  My video for how to do it is on youtube.
