Beat Saber not starting in VR

I have a problem with my rift s. When I start beat saber (whether in VR or on the ccompurter) beat saber only starts on the desktop but not in VR. In VR there is always just the loading screen. Thank you very much in advance and I would look forward to an answer.

Hi there @LLEONSNA! Running into issues launching your games can certainly be frustrating to deal with, and we don't want you to continue missing out! Please go through the following, and get back to us if anything changes:

 

  • Ensure your Oculus desktop app is up to date:
    1. Open the Oculus PC app on your computer.
    2. Select 'Library' in the left menu, then click 'Updates' to check for updates.
  • If there is any custom content installed, please try removing that and launching the game again. 
  • Uninstall Beat Saber, restart your PC, then reinstall it and test the issue once more. 
  • Do you have any issues launching a different game? (Feel free to install a free-to-play app to test!)

Hey again @LLEONSNA, thank you for the heads up, getting Beat Saber working with your PC setup is our top priority at the moment, just to be sure, are you trying to play Beat Saber from the Oculus PC VR software, or from a third party software such as Steam VR?

Besides that, are you having issues with any other games? Or is it just Beat Saber?

Either way, we would like to recommend running the repair options for the PC VR Software, simply download the installer and run it again, it will detect you already have the Oculus PC software installed and offer the option to repair.

I too am experiencing the issue with beat saber. None of those fixes previously mentioned worked.

Hi there, @thatbastard! We'd like to do everything we can to get you jamming to music in Beat Saber again, so we popped in to help out! In order for us to get a better idea of the specifics of your situation, let's start by clarifying the following information:
 

  • Is this the only game that you're having issues launching on your headset?
  • When did this issue begin? Have any changes been made to your PC in that time? 
  • Have you ever been able to successfully launch Beat Saber in the past? 
  • Does your PC still meet the minimum requirements to support this Rift connection as outlined here

  • Is this the only game that you're having issues launching on your headset? looks like it yes. loaded into about 5 other VR games both on steam and Meta. ( Turning off the extra program so not to cause issues with two programs attempting to access the device too. ) 
  • When did this issue begin? Have any changes been made to your PC in that time? I'm not sure when it started my nephew came over and tried to play it over the weekend. no changes to my pc. However I do run everything off a VM from my Array.
  • Have you ever been able to successfully launch Beat Saber in the past? Yes on many occasions. 
  • Does your PC still meet the minimum requirements to support this Rift connection as outlined here?
    specs of vm: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X 16-Core Processor 3.49 GHz ( 7 Physical cores and 14 threads on VM ) , 21.5 GB RAM installed, 1070 FTW EVGA
  • Additional comments: It doesn't seem as though it's loading the "curser" or the touch controllers are not connecting into the game software somehow. I can't accept the button on the menu that's why it's "stuck"

the little wand with the laser pointer on it is at my feet and I can't pick it up. 

Hello again @thatbastard! Thanks for sending over the information we needed! Let's go ahead and try a few more troubleshooting steps since the initial suggestion didn't do the trick. Keep us posted on how it goes, and if it's still not working, we'll try some other solutions!

 

  • Check that the headset is connected to the correct GPU. Both the headset and computer monitor must be plugged into the same graphics card
  • Restart the PC.
  • Make sure GPU drivers are up to date.
  • Launch the PC VR app by right-clicking on the shortcut and selecting "Run as Administrator"
  • If only happening with some apps, uninstall and re-install the problem apps.
  • Add the application to the antivirus software's whitelist.
  • Try another Windows user account with admin permissions
  • Disable any VPNs
