We are currently investigating an issue affecting Nvidia card users on newer driver versions and the latest Oculus app. If you have an Nvidia GPU, please be sure to install Nvidia driver 388.59 or you may experience black screens or other compatibility issue. Thanks.

I updated to the 391.01 Nvidia drivers and the blank screen and sound issues SEEM to be gone

I was able to play for 30 min without going blank or loosing sound and left for an hour then came back and without restart was able to play for an hour without blank screen or loosing sound.

I do still have Fast Start disabled

I will test more and report back .... fingers crossed

Going to echo the above, using 391.01 the black screen issues i had in 390.65 haven't returned.  No other fixes performed, DDU my working 388.71 drivers, installed the latest and everything appears to be working fine (circa 90mins in various games).

Just to confirm 390.01 do seem to be working fine for me after more testing.  No black screens, no issues moving between SteamVR and Oculus Home to play games in the different apps, left the headset idle (1hr+) and returned to it without a problem.

1080ti, W10 latest build + patches, latest betas of SteamVR and Oculus, 3 sensor setup, non-admin account used for gaming

I'm still experiencing the orange light/black screen problem.
I have a nVidia GTX 1070.

I tried all you suggested:
- full uninstall of nVidia drivers (through DDU)
- rollback nVidia drivers to 388.59
- disable Windows' fast startup
- disable Oculus beta
- more than 120 GB available on hard drive
... nothing...

I'm still here with a useless Rift (which is perfectly working on another PC with a GTX 1080).

This is something that needs to improve in the future. We can't have Oculus just stop working as soon as there is a new nvidia driver. I DO use my computer for other things than Oculus and need to be able to keep it updated.

I am using 388.59 Drivers and have had my rift working on that, had occasional periods of the video going black for 1-2 seconds (Audio did not cut out) and often saw red streaking horizontal lines in the lower part of my vision. Yesterday the video went dark and did not return. I can still hear audio just fine, I can still see what should be displayed on my computer monitor, and I can still move the headset around and see the reflected movement on my computer screen.

I did manage to get video restored once by holding the cable high over my head, but upon moving the video cut out. I am fairly certain this is a cable problem at this point, I have inspected it and have been unable to find any damage. My Rift is 2 months old and I am working with support to try and get a replacement cable, so far support has been very slow.

Is there any way to find a cable at a local store to troubleshoot the issue further? Or is there a way I can test my current cable to see if its working? I do not have another spare $1300 gaming computer laying around.

Black screen wise, not for me

I'm getting this black screen issue (can't complete rift setup when told to 'continue in your headset') on 391.35 with a GTX 1060, Win 10 x64. 😞 pulling my hair out.
