Blue Ring Issue

When we first got our quest 3 there was a blue ring which stayed always ON when looking down there was a grid barrier too if we were to touch past it, it will show up.

We have had it a couple of months now and the blue circle has not only changed color to white but now it will not show up at all when looking down it shows up to late.

The guardian is definitely different now.

After the recent update i was having other issues which i thought might of been causing it.

so I have reset to factory default and re installing a clean software it has sorted all the other issues and fixes but this blue ring is still the same.

The point I am getting at, When my child is playing it used to help him keep inside the ring by looking down regularly and repersitoning himself.

Now he is all over the place hitting things and me i keep having to tell him to get back to the center.

I have tried looking into the settings and deleting past barrier history.

The headset was put back to factory default and like I mentioned with a fresh install of software.

It's clear it must be an update issue or I am missing something.

Does anyone know what is going on and how to fix it.

Has meta changed this in the recent update. A friend of mine has 2x Quest 2 and he has no problem with not seeing a BLUE circle around him all the time.

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

Thanks for posting into our forum. We can see you're having problems with a blue ring appearing while your son is trying to use his Quest 3, we'll be happy to try and help you out! By the sounds of it, it seems like the boundary on the device will need to be redrawn in order to fix this, please see below:

  • Press Meta button for VR headset controllers / oculus icon on your right controller to open the universal menu.
  • Select the clock on the left-hand side of the universal menu to open Quick settings.
  • Select Settings in the top right, then select Environment setup.
  • Select Boundary, then select Adjust boundary.
  • From here, ensure you're setting up a roomscale boundary

This will remove the blue ring from appearing while you're in VR. If the problem persists after redrawing the boundary in roomscale, please let us know and we'll look into what else we can do for you!

Hey there,

I'm not the OP, but I think you misunderstood the assignment. They don't want the blue ring gone. They want the blue ring *back*. In other words, the stationary boundary they have set up is not working how it used to and they want help getting it back to the Guardian activating earlier and the circle on the floor showing up sooner when they glance at it.

I don't have the Meta menu in front of me to double check names and everything, but have you tried changing the settings for the boundary and Guardian? It's in Settings under ... Physical Space Features or something along those lines. You can change how sensitive the Guardian (the grid that shows up if you get too close to the edges) is and how soon it shows up. You can also change the color of the Guardian. You can change the floor circle to glanceable or not glanceable (meaning if it shows up when you look down or not), as well as changing the color.

Looking at those settings might help you get it back to how you want it.

This is a problem that's emerged with one of the recent updates that overhauled the stationary boundary system.

The new system keeps the previously glanceable boundary ring hidden, and inhibits the boundary proximity indicator (fading into passthrough) until after you've completely left the boundary.

Needless to say, these changes are terribly counterproductive, as the goal of warnings should be to alert you of when you're approaching the limits of your play area BEFORE you collide with the environment.

Sincerely hoping this change gets rolled back, or room scale gets enough customization potential to reduce the obtrusiveness of the boundary so that it's not as thick or neon bright.
