Hi there,

I'm getting a blue screen on Windows 8.1 with 0.4.1 (same as 0.4.0).

Installed runtime, etc. Did NOT connect rift. After a reboot and 30 mins later Blue Screen with RiftEnabler.sys - Added Crash Dump and DxDiag:

Would really appreciate a fix for this (was hoping 0.4.1 would fix it), as I cant develop on my main machine. Uninstalling fixes the issue btw. Thanks!

Do you have any Display Link drivers installed? (eg: USB monitors or displays, or something like Air Display to share with a tablet or phone?) I posted here about this and maybe that's the problem as I get the same thing, hard crash due to RiftEnabler.sys, under 0.4.0 and 0.4.1.

I have one Monitor running off DisplayPort, 1 off DisplayPort-to-DVI converter and 1 direct DVI-I. When I use the Rift I cant use my third monitor (not a massive issue). But the blue screens happen with or without the Rift connected at seemingly random times.

No other display drivers installed and no tablets/phones.

Running latest AMD Drivers with 2x 280X in Crossfire (which I disable when I need to use the rift).

There's something software related with your SLI configuration that's causing issues if I had to guess. Your DxDiag reported 3 Radeon 280's. Is this correct?

I'm only running 2x 280X in Crossfire. Never installed a third in this system. You might be picking up the Intel on-die Graphics? Or the 3 showing up could be for the monitors as I do run 3 monitors out of the top 280x graphics card. I think AMD drivers work that each display get's it's own driver entry possibly?

Got a blue screen aswell after closing the Unity Tuscany demo with 0.4.1 in D2R mode. Same problem that i had in 0.4 with some Unity demos. Also there was still judder when moving my head. The World demo runs smooth and with no blue screen.

My specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7 960 4x 3.2 GHz
GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 660
RAM: 8GB DDR3-1333
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
OS: Windows 7 64 Bit
Peripherals: Wacom tablet, Microsoft Gamepad, Logitech Mouse & Keyboard

Minidump attached.

I had similar issues and digging through the dumps showed issues with RiftEnabler but also VirtuWDDM. That's some driver that must have been leftover from some software that came with my motherboard. The software was LucidLogix Virtu and it basically uses your iGPU to help speed things up even when you have a dedicated GPU. Now, this may have been irrelevant but it got me to go into BIOS and disable anything I could that was related to the integrated GPU and since then, I have not been getting bluescreens when exiting apps. For all I know, it was just that BIOS was still telling the PC to do (anything) with the iGPU even though the Virtu software had been uninstalled and it may be the case for anyone whose PC is trying to do something with the iGPU. Make sure to disable that wherever possible in BIOS and see if it helps.

My intel iGPU is dissabled in the BIOS, but I still get the BSOD when launching Tuscany in D2R.
I still have the intel video driver installed though, so I'll try removing it and see if that helps.

I don't have onboard video. But i have disabled nvidia sound drivers today and updated gfx drivers to 340.52
Now i don't get a bsod when i close the Tuscany demo but it just freezes the PC when i start the demo, no picture in the rift, only a frozen frame on the monitor and a sound is looping. Given that i just played the new UE4 rollercoaster demo with direct 2 rift and no issues whatsoever i start to think that this is an Unity issue above all.

Reading this it sounds like there are a number of issues going on here.

First, multiple GPU configs are a complete crapshot at this point. We have some in the office here that work flawlessly while others are less than stellar. We're working on compatibility but it'll take time with the number of permutations out there.

Things like VirtuWDDM, DisplayLink and other system hacks are going to have an interaction as well.

If someone could send me a memory dump produced from one of the BSODs it'll go very far to tracking down the issue. Thanks for any assistance in this matter.
