Bottom half of the screen is shaded? - wired connection

New to the quest 3 but upgraded from the vive -> reverb g2 so not new to vr
Running a 4090 but within minutes of wired gaming I experienced issues with the bottom half of the screen being shaded. Seems to be an ongoing issue from way back? Is there a fix?

Meta pretended it didn't exist for years, but then a Reddit user came up with this . Probably worth a try.

Hey @whatthecrappin! We would love to assist you in making sure you can see the full screen when gaming. We know how critical it is that you are able to view your full screen when enjoying gaming, and we would love to get a better understanding of why this is happening so we can provide the correct solution.

  • Do you get any error messages? If not, what is the exact behavior when you connect to your PC?
  • Has connecting to your PC worked in the past?
  • When did you first notice this was happening?
  • Did any of the devices (phone, headset, or PC) receive any recent updates?
  • Have you already tried any troubleshooting?
  • Does the headset work fine when it is not connected to a PC?
  • Are you connecting their USB cable to a USB 3 port?
  • What type of link cable are you using? Have you tried any other link cables and had the same issue?
  • How many other USB devices does the customer have connected to their PC?

We look forward to hearing back from you and assisting you further!

Yep, thats the issue I was describing - and for years like you said.  I applied the reg fix and it worked, but was wondering why I need to apply a years old fix?

Just after the official fix - (I'm generally not keen on reg hacks as they can cause issues with updates etc)

Meta still haven't admitted it's a fault for some reason so they won't be offering a fix. Support did refer to the Reddit thread a few times, then seemed to stop. Almost as if they'd been told to revert to the original position of complete silence.
