Boundary moves when opening Home in Meta Quest PC app

Hello.

Since I've bought oculus, ten month ago, I have this problem almost always (3 of 4 times): when opening Oculus Home, Guardian(*) has moved to other position.

This happened with two sensors, with three sensores, using
Windows 7, using Windows 10, using old Oculus Home (last year), using Oculus Home
2.0...

A workaround is restarting oculus service with Oculus Tray
Tool. Once restarted usually guardian moves to the correct position, but
sometimes I need to restart service 3, 4 or 5 times!!!

I haven't moved the sensors one millimeter and no one are upside down.

Any idea? Any solution?

Thanks!

(*) Guardian... and Oculus center position. In other words: if I start a game/app when this happens I won't be centered on it and I need to recenter using Oculus system (but this doesn't work with SteamVR apps and, of course, the important thing: Guardian is not where he should be).

I just found this old post of mine with no apparent solution so...

However, some time later I found a forum where someone commented that special characters in the Windows username could cause some non-specific problem with Oculus.

So I tried creating a new user in Windows without accents and installing and configuring Oculus with it... and the Guardian problem disappeared!!!

So that was the solution; have a username without accents or special characters.

What to do...

Do you have any mirrors or reflective surfaces in the room, bright sunlight can be a problem as well.

Nop. No mirrors, no direct sunshine, no reflective surfaces.

It happens randomly. Sometimes it starts fine, sometimes guardian (and center position) is moved (always at the same point).

It's strange that it fixes restarting service (one, two, three, four times...) until "it wants".

Hello again.
A few days ago I upgraded my computer (new CPU, new RAM, new Motherboard) and formatted and installed Windows 10 from scratch. And installed Oculus from scratch and........

...Guardian keeps moving again !!!!

And is not the only problem I have with Oculus.

I receive everytime, at oculus window, a note that says:

"Some features of the Oculus platform may be temporarily unavailable".

This happens to me BEFORE and AFTER upgrading my computer and installing Windows...

Any solution???

Hey hey @cestomano, and welcome back! Thank you so much for coming and updating your thread with a solution (even if it's a few years later). I actually was able to dig around in our resources, and we have this as one of our official troubleshooting steps now. You never know who may be facing a similar issue that could be resolved with these same steps!

Since this thread is all the way back from 2018, I'm going to go ahead and lock it from new replies since this was happening so long ago. Any similar issues that come up now will likely have something a little different going on.

That being said, you of course can always post again here on the forums! I'd love to see what some of your favorite games over the  years have been if you want to head over to the VR Experiences board!

Make sure you smash that Kudos button!
