CV1 screens grey not black?

Hi all, i have a question to all those who have or have tried a CV1. The black level in my rift are not what I was expecting. Black screens look like a washed out grey colour with light red smearing at the top and bottom when on a blank screen, the sort of look black has on an LCD. I was expecting the screen to be true black, as in not light from them at all when displaying black screens. They are oled's after all and oled's are known for amazing black levels. is this normal?

Ps.
Despite that still loving it.

I have the exact same problem. Contacted Oculus support about that and they said they are working on improving the software. I hope that means they are making some calibration tool to fix the incorrect calibration.

@adamzhangyi Please contact Oculus Support. You may have a software conflict on your computer, or incorrectly plugged in the cables, or it could be defective hardware.

Hey Guys

Anyone managed to find a fix for the Grey Screen and the Red Tint?

I received an email from support last week regarding my red tint issue which stated a software fix has been created and will be part of a future update.

Nooo spoke too soon, its back :(. Trying to retrace the changes iv made to see what caused it. I installed some Intel drivers, Ai suit 3 for my motherboard and steam for my games. Thinking maybe something to do with steam VR as that's the only thing that has a close relation with the headset but uninstalling did not solve problem.

Is it possible that some sort of driver or hardware setting is changed when steam VR is setup !?

Old post but the problem is when you reinstall Oculus you drop the cache'd SPUD file the headset downloads to your %appdata%/local/Oculus/spud folder so initially the headset runs as if you toggle'd spud off because the headset doesn't load spud which is Oculus' calibration of the display's.  This will produce the dark blacks.  Once you reboot or restart Oculus the red haze comes back unless you perm disable spud which has other effects
