I use this cable: https://www.amazon.ca/JSAUX-Compatible-Accessories%E3%80%90-Charging-Playing/dp/B0BM93GWF1/ref=sr_1_...
It has worked for months, I have 2 of these, one for PCVR and one that I plug into a wall in the living room. Both won't work anymore to connect to PCVR since yesterday (october 4 2024). When I plug it into the quest 3 nothing happens on the PC, it's like I didn't connect anything. The headset does charge though. I tried another cable and it works but the JSAUX cable has both a usb A and usb C end on one side, one to charge and one for data so the battery life is almost infinite while with the other cable I get like 2 hours..
I tried everything, rebooting the headset, the computer, updated the computer bios, tried all the usb ports, reinstalled all drivers for usb ports, reinstalled graphics card drivers, brushed the usb port on the headset nothing works. Sometimes if I plug and unplug repeatedly it will connect but it will detect the cable as a usb 2 cable.

Hey there,
Thanks for posting, upon looking into this I can see that you have already attempted all the troubleshooting steps I would have recommended,
Unfortunately it seems you may just have to use another cable as you say you have one that currently works, unless anyone on the community forums has anymore suggestions.
Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy quest link without much hassle in the future, thank you for your time!
