Camera Died? Device Bricked? Faulty Part?

How do you tell if your camera died or is it the trackers or is it that your device is bricker or the v76 update causing problems? when i open my device i see the meta horizon logo, i hear the sound and see the white light. right now after the logo it remains in black screen. sometimes it says 'finding position in room' with the remainin black screen at the back and i did factory reset to fix this problem which made it completely black now. i cant even use my controllers because it says update failed on the screen for both. today when i randomly grabbed the headset and opened it, i saw the camera working for a brief second and then it went black again. I dont know whats going on please help. I even tried rebooting by holding volume down button and power button simultaneously to power it off or boot it and even after the factory reset i tried to sideolad update the v76 update.. If theres any way to completely delete the software and reinstall it im going to try that if its bricked or something update related. I got the headset from a 3rd party site because i dont live in a supported country by meta so i guess it is up to me or to find a technician to fix this either in my country or this site.  1000059178.jpg

Thanks for posting into our forum. From what we see it looks like you're having some tracking problems with your device, and we'd like to see if we can help out! When you get a minute, please try these following steps:

 

  • Make sure the tracking is turned on
    • By default, the headset will use 6DoF tracking, unless it has been turned off in the Guardian settings panel or lost tracking while in VR.
  1. Click on the clock on the left side of the universal menu
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select System from the Settings panel
  4. Select Headset Tracking from the left side panel
  5. Make sure Headset Tracking is ticked
  • Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect tracking or pairing (such as controller covers, controller attachments, etc.)

Hello and thanks for the reply but since im having black screen i am not able to use my controllers either on the menu. i cannot access any settings unless i can somehow activate guardian from somewhere else..

No problem, thanks for letting us know. So since the controller tracking isn't working at all and can't select the settings, you may be able to check the status of tracking through the app by using these steps:

 

  • Open the Meta Quest app
  • Access the universal menu
  • Navigate to settings
  • Select Movement tracking
  • Enable hand and body tracking, if it's disabled

If this also doesn't work for you and because you currently reside in a unsupported country, we wouldn't have any troubleshooting or solutions left to offer as we do see a factory reset hasn't helped you out either.

can we connect to headset thru the app after factory resetting it? because i think when you factory reset it forget the wifi no? or i can connect my headset thru the desktop pc via cable.. is it possible to activate guardian thru the meta quest app on pc?

the app connects automatically and after it connects theres a button that says wifi or controller help or something just hit wifi and you can connect remotely.
