Can I bypass the CPU compatibility check?

Endonesia

So I've been playing games in VR with no problems, but when I try to install Oculus Runtime 1.4, it says my CPU is not compatible and won't let me progress.  Is their anyway around this.  I've never have software not let me install saying my computer is not strong enough.  I should at least be able to make the decision for myself.

Hi. Same here.

I have a Intel Xeon CPU which has more power than the required Intel i5 CPU.

I would like to disable this annoying feature, too.

I can't even get past the install screen.  So I'm missing out on the software that I bought this for.

Is this a fresh install or an update from 1.3 to 1.4?

I'm only asking because my CPU isn't in their catalog check either, so reports as not meeting the recommended specs, but 1.4 via an auto update is working fine for me, using the DK2 though.

You could possibly edit the registry to temporarily rename your CPU... something like this:

If it's an ongoing issue, you could use this method:

Hmmm... I hope they are not enforcing that cpu catalog check now... that's a bad idea!

Ugh.  I wish i didn't have to resort to this, but the Oculus devs leave us no choice.  I seriously hate messing with system files.

They are enforcing a system check and locking people out instead of giving them a choice.  It's really bad development.

Hi everyone! I managed to install Oculus on Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of RAM! I just downloaded the 1.3 installer:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/4keupy/downgrading_to_oculus_13/

Oculus works, but very poorley (10-20 fps with freezes), while Vive works like a shame (30-40 fps, but smoothly). Maybe this is because of some incompatibility or too smal RAM?

Anyway, I build a cheap second machine for tests and debugging. This was my old PC from 2008, it has Core 2 Duo E7400 overclocked to 3.5 GHz, 4 gigs and GTX 9800+ 1 Gb. I replaced graphics card with GTX 780 which left from a recent upgrade of my current PC, and ordered another 4 GB of RAM and Xeon X5650 to replace Core 2 Duo. I will report back performance then parts are arrive.
