As title says. Can I replace Quest 3 controller joystick with a Quest 2 one?
My left controller joystick has started bouncing all over the place in certain places when moving. It's manageable, but sometimes I will move randomly in games in direction I am not trying to or stop moving in the direction. Since Meta does not offer warranty in my country and I bought my headset through amazon - if cleaning it won't help, I just want to buy a spare joystick to replace the existing one with.
I'm really cheap and don't want to pay 3 times more than necessary for something, so was wondering if it's perfectly fine to replace my joystick with one from Quest 2 controller, as I see on internet people saying that they are effectively the same, but can't find 100% confirmation that I am perfectly fine in doing so.
EDIT:
You can see the drift before fix here: https://youtu.be/zEJykpH_h40
Just wanted to do an update. I will keep in mind that I can change my joysticks to Hall Effect ones and might do so in the future, for now however:
Contrary to support's advice to not use chemical cleaners or alcohol for cleaning, as per this site Meta's best practices, I opened up my controllers top and removed the cap from joystick and used a few WD-40 contact cleaner sprays on it. This seems to have mostly solved the issue, while in calibration screen I still see very slight, barely noticeable, catching in one corner. Might just need another spray.

@Rociel the Quest 2, 3 and pro joystick are compatible items, but if you are going to replace the joystick, then you may as well replace it with a hall effect joystick which will not suffer from stick drift in the future.

Hi Rociel,
We're afraid not. The Quest 2 and Quest 3 controllers, respectively, use tracking in a different way.
We can look into troubleshooting options for your Quest 2 controller if you like.
In terms of fixing your Quest 2 controller, could you tell us what you have attempted so far?
Best wishes,
Meta Quest Support

I have a Quest 3 controller myself, was looking to use a part from Quest 2 controller. It's only the little joystick part that I am to replace, has nothing to do with tracking, as long as the contacts and form factor are the same, I believe it should be the same, but maybe I am missing something?
I have tried every possible software solution, only thing left, short of replacing it, is cleaning it with contact cleaner - don't have one on hand right now, but making sure what else I can do to not waste time in case it fails miserably.

Item linked can't be shipped to my location, but thank you very much, I will look into ordering one like that instead of cheaper Quest 2 one.

Lol, the AI bot didn't even understand the OPs initial question. and then gave out duff advice.
Lets hope meta aren't involved in the implementation of skynet...... we're doomed ! 🤣
