Can No Longer Launch Quest Link Either Cable or Wifi

ar.shuss.9

Get the 3 dots of death instead of the old Rift interface. Worked fine 6 hrs ago. Have several notifications in the desktop app Meta Quest Link that there may be an issue and to click on the notification to go to the Quest Link support page. Click on any of the notifications and it takes you to

https://secure.oculus.com/my/people/

which is less than worthless.

Also of interest the Meta Quest Link app (Oculus) icon pinned to the taskbar is no longer registered. It is generic, you old Windows folks will know what I'm talking about.

Hi @ar.shuss.9 🙂

pc link app had still the old Oculus symbol all the time since the renaming to Meta ..... but a few weeks ago there was an update.
After that the symbol on desktop changed to the Meta symbol while the symbel in the taskbar got generic - first I had trouble finding it😂
However I can still use link/airlink just fine, so I don't think the generic symbol is the problem.

Maybe you should open a support ticket so they can look into your log files.

Problem solved by support using the following steps

1. Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer.
2. Disconnect your computer from the internet.
3. Backup any necessary content.
* You can find steps on how to do so here
4. Reboot into Safe Mode.
5. Uninstall Oculus PC app using the Control Panel.
6. Delete all Oculus folders from the following folder:
* C:\Program Files
7. Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
* C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
* C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
* C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
* C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
* C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
8. Restart your computer in normal mode.
9. Reconnect your computer to the internet.
10. Install Oculus PC app again using the setup tool from our website Here
11. Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset.

At this point adding the headset did not work (just spinning after picking the cable connection) I power cycled the headset and toggled the Airlink button in the full System settings menu and the pairing code came up. After confirming the code I launched the cable link and the old "Rift" interface with my games is back.

Thanks for replying. A generic icon can be an indication of a corrupt or non-existent registry key as a result of a faulty software install or update. I put in a ticket and sent logs and I am resisting the urge to reinstall the PC app until I hear back.

They really need to fix the issue where a notification in the app says "Click here to check our support article" and it takes you to a useless page.

Also getting a notification in the app "Some features of Meta Quest Link platform may be temporarily unavailable. If the issue persists, please visit Meta support." That's something the cable company would say if a tree fell across the lines. 😁

Yes, but the icon is there.....on desktop, just not in the taskbar.

That's true😂

Lol.....

I don't get these messages.....maybe your pc link update wasn't go through properly.

You can try repair the pc link app and see if that works.

I just detached the icon from my taskbar and then reattached it again.......now it shows the correct Meta symbol😁

So in my case...it was just me being stupid😅

Follow up--

On May1  I opened a ticket and on May 2 sent them my logs. I have yet to hear back.  I did get on chat with support a week ago to get an update and was asked to have patience.  Did find out that if I started link and got the neverending 3 dots Windows does see the headset as a device in File Explorer. So everything is working except the Meta Quest Link interface.

Now after every headset power cycle in order to launch Quest link it needs to be paired  again with a new code. That will only happen if the Airlink button in the full System settings menu is toggled off/on.

Hm, that sounds pretty unconvenient....but at least you have your pc vr working again.👍

Now that I could finally get back to games/apps on my desktop all the ones I have tried now do not work correctly. Apps in my library(old Rift) all lose tracking for 30 seconds at a time, will not or don't recenter correctly, freeze and stutter. 2 steam games that I used to play for hours by using Cable Link and desktop button on the main control panel now freeze Steam and has locked my PC to the point of having to force power cycle it.

I have added this issue to the email thread I have with support but I'm beginning to think after seeing the number of people with the same problems that this is built in obsolesence.
