Can Oculus do something about the inefficient update process?

Taomyn

The updates to Elite Dangerous both this week and last week have been painfully slow, especially the most recent one which was just 45MB in size and took Oculus Home nearly an hour to perform. I've read the Reddit thread where it was explained that because of the way Home checks every single file for changes and E:D having many tens of thousands of files, this contributes to the problem. Well that only shows how inefficient the Oculus code is because both Steam and the Frontier launchers each perform the same validation of the files in a fraction of the time.

Please can Oculus do something about this? It's a joke that it's quicker to perform an uninstall then reinstall than to do a tiny 45MB patch. I have also submitted feedback for this via Home but wanted it mentioned on this forum as well.

Hello, welcome to the community forum support. Please note that this is a community ran help section and that we are not Oculus direct support. We can help with some basic fixes and can be a bit faster than Oculus direct support, but advance help might only be available at Oculus direct support. At any time if feel you need more advanced support please feel free to reach out to support by sending a ticket here: https://tickets.oculusvr.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I recommend making a ticket and letting them know what the problem is. Also, this wouldn't be a quick fix - so keep in mind that something like this might take a while to be fix in any future updates.
