everyone knows the quest 2 and 3 silicone front covers. And I have one on my quest 2 and I am wondering if a thermally non-conductive material covering the front of the headset can damage the internal components. my biggest concern is the battery because it is very fragile and I know that CPUs and GPUs (at least desktop CPUs and GPUs ) can survive up to 80 degrees C while batterys explode at 80 degrees C. I have been using ovr and it said my battery is at 48 degrees C while playing aim xr and it is always in the red area of the graph. I am also consered about the very very high (at least according to my standards) battery temps. I really don't want to put a explosive up to my face unless it is at room temp.
My questions:
Do silicone front covers damage the meta quest 2?
Is 48 degrees C bad for the battery in meta quest 2?

While I personally don't like to keep any sort of cover on my headset, I definitely understand the desire to. Whether it's for protection or making it look more personalized, it's definitely something a lot of people do! The most important factor when looking for or using a cover is to make sure it does not block any air flow. That will always cause the biggest impact on temperature.
In regards to specific temperatures the headset (and battery) can withstand, I don't have an exact number. However, if your headset ever does get hot to the touch or gives you an overheating warning, then you should stop use right away and reach out to the support team here.
