Hey there! We can help with your Casting issue, to make sure we can properly cast make sure both your headset and your mobile device are connected to the same wifi network.

When casting to a TV with supported Chromecast, navigate to your Oculus App (iOS or Android) and select the casting icon in the top right of your screen. You should see the headset you want to cast from and then the Chromecast device you want to cast to.

If your TV does not have a built-in Chromecast feature do not fret, there are several methods to cast to your TV such as  Apple AirPlay if on iOS or you can also use your computer by visiting oculus.com/casting, from here you can cast from your computer to any other external monitor such as your TV.

Same here. I got a Smart Samsung, with casting installed in it, but when trying to cast the device isn't visible.

I'm screen mirroring from my iphone onto my tv, but why can't I cast directly from the headset to the TV?

Hey there Mrred60! We understand you are having issues with casting your headset to your TV. No worries we can most definitely help you out with that. In order to start casting, a few requirements must be met:

  • Both the headset and the receiving device need to be connected to the same local area network
  • Best practice is to have the headset connected through 5Ghz, though 2.4Ghz may still work at limited quality
  • when casting to a computer or mobile app, both the headset and the device displaying the cast must be logged into the same account
    • This limits secondary accounts from casting to the mobile app, as a secondary account cannot be connected to an app

You can cast to your computer, phone, or supported Chromecast device or TV. Before attempting to pair with a device for casting, ensure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. Keep in mind that some apps may not allow casting.

  1. On your computer, go to oculus.com/casting with Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge and log in to your Oculus account.
  2. Put your headset on and press oculus icon on your controller to open the universal menu
  3. Select Sharing then select Cast.
  4. Select Computer then select Next.
    • If you don't see your computer listed, make sure that your headset and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  5. Select Done.

TO cast from phone or Chromecast device:

  1. Open the Oculus app on your phone.
  2. Select in the top right of your screen.
  3. Under Cast From, select the headset you'd like to cast from.
    • Make sure it says Connected under your listed headset.
  4. Under Cast To, select This Phone or the Chromecast device you want to use.
  5. Tap Start at the bottom of your screen, put your headset on and accept the in-VR prompt to start casting.

Please let us know if this worked for you, If you are still having issues with casting reach back out. We would be happy to assist you!

I am having the same issues as mentioned here. I can cast the quest 2 to my phone using the app no problem but when trying to cast to other devices the quest is not detecting them. I have tried various smart tvs with built in cast (LG and Samsung) and even a firestick but none of them are being detected. They are all linked to the same network. I have no issues with casting other devices to these tvs / firestick. I have tried linking the quest and the TV to a hotspot network but again the quest is not detecting the TV (or any other device except the mobile phone app).

I have followed all the steps for casting outlined on this forum. The only thing I haven't done is a factory reset of the device as I am afraid I will lose the copy of beat sabre I got when I registered the device first.

Hey Mrred60! We are just reaching out to you to see if you still needed assistance with your casting issue. If you or anyone still needs help you can go here and create a ticket. You will then be connected to one of our specialists who will be able to assist you further.

Casting on my Quest 1 broken.

Same network as before, same headset, same tv... what used to work flawlessly doesn't. I don't even see the Tv anymore. And casting to the phone is also broken. I can use the app to enable casting to the phone, also the phone is there to select, when i start the red dot appears in the headset visuals but the phone display stays black. No cast.

What is happening? You don't seam to offer a solution for quite some time now - like years???

I can tell you what worked for me, what i did was this experienced a missing cast icon on the YouTube app on your iPhone, there are a few steps you can take to resolve the issue:-

1. Check Network Connectivity:- Ensure that both your iPhone and the device you want to cast to (e.g., a Chromecast device or a smart TV) are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

2. Update YouTube App:- Make sure that your YouTube app is up to date. Sometimes, older versions of the app may have bugs or missing features that could cause issues.

3. Restart YouTube App:- Close the YouTube app completely and then reopen it. This can sometimes resolve minor glitches or issues with the app.

4. Restart iPhone:- Restart your iPhone to refresh its system processes. This can sometimes resolve various issues, including problems with app functionality.

5. Check for App Permissions:- Make sure that the YouTube app has the necessary permissions to access your network and other features on your iPhone. You can check and adjust app permissions in your iPhone's settings.
