Can't disable Xbox controller from interacting with my headset

Master_5plinter

When a controller is connected to my PC while using (wired) Oculus Link and I am viewing my monitors from within the headset, there will be a dot on the screen that follows my head movements. If I press 'A' on my Xbox Elite 2 Controller, it will act as if I left-clicked where that dot is, 'B' brings up the In-Headset keyboard context menu, left-trigger moves my in headset window, and right-trigger seems to snap my cursor back to the dot.

The thing is, I don't want my controller interacting with my headset at all. I want to use my headset, with my computer viewing my monitors in headset and play a game with my controller without those inputs that were meant for the game, also interact with the headset.

Another example is that if I'm playing something like Elite Dangerous, which is (very!) VR capable, but needs more input capability like the mouse and keyboard or bunches and bunches of mapped buttons on a controller. To be honest, the controller is easier for games like Elite Dangerous for most tasks but I can't have my 'A' button interfacing with the headset. Not related to Elite, but I also don't need my left-trigger to suddenly start launching in-headset window that I'm currently looking at all over the place.

If I need input within my headset, I will grab my headset-controllers that I've set safely just off to the side, or if I can't find them, I can take off my headset to look for them. What's more, if I'm going to interface with my computer's monitors, I'll either be close enough to the computer to use the mouse and keyboard or I'll put back on and use the headset's controllers. I'm honestly not sure how this wasn't a user scenario when designing it. I've seen other posts from years ago and there hasn't been any change in this behavior to accommodate this scenario.

I understand that this doesn't fit all persons because maybe the computer is far away from the Oculus and the only input you have in your hands is the controller but, in my situation, I need the ability to disable that. Is it possible to do this?

Why's is this such a problem? There are so many people who have this issue why not just give us the capability to disable it? The quality is so much better playing in oculus link because it is directly wired to the headset and my games that I play with my controller just look way cleaner rather than using virtual desktop but we can use this option all because of the mouse cursor being locked to the headset, I don't need the headset to take control of the mouse and just want to disable it, why is this such an issue to fix???

Is this still  Seriously an issue?  Post is almost 2 months old.  I've also been seeing post from over 2 years ago about this! HELLOOOOO WE NEED HELP.  At least tell us we can go kick rocks or something instead of just ignoring us!

I just hope replying to you amplifies this request. The only reason I can think of to not fix this issue is to deliberately make pcvr annoying in a misguided attempt to drive users toward the standalone games. But they say never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity, perhaps it's such a "small" problem that they just don't want to put any people on it.

Please fix this, this is frustrating to no end. I recently got a quest 2, and getting one makes me hate the facebook company even more. They put absolutely no effort into fixing bugs or trying to give a good customer experience. I cannot stream to my visio tv either because facebook doesn't care about fixing a bug that's been around for almost a year now. Thanks meta! What a great company!!

What is it going to take to have a solution for this?

Same request here. This entirely neuters a otherwise great, unique, experience.

I guess you can just take the batteries out of your controller...

Hey @Master_5plinter, some of what you're describing seems like you may want to look into your Xbox controller's button mapping, which would be a question better suited for Microsoft Support.

The Xbox controller experience is going to essentially 'replace' the Quest 2 controllers. Since it's meant to 'mimic' the Quest 2 controllers functionality, and the Xbox controller is built for traditional 2D gaming experience, some of it's functionality may not directly translate properly.

I agree seeing this increased functionality of the Xbox controller would be awesome. I'd leave a post on the Ideas forum to have the Xbox controller functionalities be improved on and more integrated whenever utilizing the Quest 2 for PCVR.

Bumping this... I don't want my xbox controller to interract with the headset either. The process I was aiming at using with AirLink was:

1. Set screens where cofortable

2. lay down VR contrtollers

3. Pick up xbox controller.

4. Play.

The way it works now is just frustrating. ><

Also bumping this. Thought it would be cool to play games like this. But, clearly that won't happen. Just got the option to disable controller inputs for the headset. It can't be that hard.
