I received a refurbished quest 2 due to having issues with my old one. I am currently dealing with more issues however.
I was sent a new headset but the controllers from my previous headset, meaning they can't connect until the headset is set up. However I am stuck on the part of set up where the headset HAS to detect controllers otherwise it won't continue. I have also tried to connect my headset to the Meta app on my phone, but every time, even after factory resetting the headset a few times, it refuses to connect.
I am unsure of what to do. Does anyone have any fixes?
I've also wondered if getting brand new controllers will automatically pair with this headset, can someone confirm or deny this so I know? Thank you.

Yes, seems so.....but that would mean, if a headset is broken and can not connect to the phone, the controllers are also useless forever??
I can't believe that.

I actually can. And for the same reason that meta stop you from setting a headset up without controllers by having the default setting set to controllers and not hand tracking. So many controllers on ebay, all still linked to headsets rendering valuable hardware as e-waste.

You are right.
It would be really bad, if it's true.
Especially because most people who are buying a used controller don't know that...... at least, I didn't know
that until now.
Still, I'm not covinced yet, that there is no way to make it work.

@TheSquidInk the guy here is talking about Quest 3, not Quest 2 and he don't say, if he have unpaired his controllers before he got the replacement but ...... maybe you should try, what he did.

I'm having the same issue with my quest 3 controllers after getting a replacement headset. It's ridiculous
