Can't play Walkabout Golf VR simultaneously with app sharing

I have tried to play Walkabout Golf VR on 2 Headsets (Q1 & Q2) I have tried the Appsharing method on the Q2 and using a sub account. I have also tried to use the same admin accounts on both the Q1 & Q2. Neither option will let me play multiplayer together.

The goal is to be able to play multiplayer with my 2 headsets and the game I purchased.

When app sharing is on, if I load the game from the same account, I get an error message that the same game cannot be used by the same account simultaneously. I can play with the main account and the sub account with app sharing on, but when I try to join a game, the other person is not there. We are both in a room of the same name, but are alone.

With app sharing off, I can load into the game at the same time with both accounts, but cannot enter the same room. When we try to enter the same room, the same thing as using a sub account happens.

Can someone provide me some guidance on how to resolve this issue?

I answered my own question:

*MEOW WOLF UPDATE:

With our Meow Wolf update, the game is no longer backward compatible and Quest 1 users will be locked to multiplayer with other Quest 1 devices only. We ask all of our users to verify that they have properly updated their game applications to the latest version to avoid game bugs [Vers. 4.7 / 21870].

So you can no longer use one copy of walkabout to play multiplayer on two hmd? I know you used to be able to. Thanks

If I recall, in their Discord a while back when the App Sharing feature first rolled out, they made an announcement that you'll no longer be able to log in on two headsets to play multiplayer under the same account.

Nowadays, playing the same game, under the same account, on two different headsets isn't possible on any game or app on Quest. You'd have to either App Share it or purchase a new copy under the account with the second headset.

A lot of people end up utilizing the App Sharing feature to save on buying an extra copy of the game. You'd just:

  1. Set your account as the Admin for Headset 1 & 2
  2. Enable App Sharing on Headset 2
  3. Add a Secondary account to Headset 2
  4. Play a game or app under your Admin account on Headset 1
  5. Other user can play the same game or app on Headset 2 under the Secondary account thanks to App Sharing

If you run into issues enabling App Sharing, or if you can't add any other accounts, I recommend PMing @MetaQuestSupport for more help.

Hope this helps!

Playing Walkabout Mini Golf on two headsets with one account still works fine for me, I just joined a game with both my Quest 2 and Quest 3. (And Quest 1 ended up in a separate instance as expected by the recent update)

We did have an issue a few weeks ago where I tried to join 3 people in WMG. Two of us ended up in one room and two in a different room. No Quest 1s. (One group had a Quest 3 and Quest 2, my group was a Quest 3 and Rift-S). Next time we tried (maybe 2 weeks later) it worked correctly again.
