I've contacted support, asking to get the uninstalled icons removed. At first they wanted me to hard reboot the whole headset and then factory reset it. I told them I was not going to delete all of my data on the headset, i'm just looking to get an icon removed. They then told me that is actually was not necessary, and that i should go look at the storage of the apps and delete them from there. I told them that the app does not show up in storage because i have already deleted it, i just want the icon removed too. This goes back and forth for a couple of days UNTIL they finally write to me that it actually CANNOT be done.
I'm like what? Why didn't you guys just tell me that from the beginning. And then some AI took over and started the conversation almost from scratch.
I've seen post after researching this, i found posts that dates back to 2019 where people complain about they can't remove the app icon after uninstalling an app.
Imagine installing a program on your computer, maybe a trial of a program, and when you uninstall it, you can never delete the icon from your app list/start menu... That is the dumbest thing i've ever encountered in a software. This MUST be a bug or a glitch, because there is a button to click remove - but guess what happens when i click it? The app icon goes away and comes back after 5 seconds...
The support emails ended with me being told again that its not possible and that they suggest that I write in the forums because the developers look at these and use them in future updates. So here i am, writing in the forums, hoping to get noticed by the devs so this BUG/GLITCH can be fixed.
@Meps164a unfortunately the meta support bots were just blowing smoke up your ass. The devs don't bother to look in here as the problems still exist in 2025. meta even got rid of the ideas forum which the AI bots still ask you to post your suggestions in. The only option you have is to click on three dots in the app shortcut and hide it. The hide function depends on the software version you're running.

There are 7115 unspecified (ignored) ideas, and 3292 new ideas. Either they're an idea worth pursuing or they are not worth considering. So, of those 10407 ideas, 107 have been completed (implemented)? 11 ideas have been started (to be considered)?, 2 ideas are under review, and there are 0, nought, zero, no live ideas out of 10407 submitted. Is this, or is this not a fair assessment of the new ideas process.
Why would anyone want to engage with a system which their own stats prove are pointless?

My blood still boils at the fact that i can't remove the people app, horizon feed and store app from the menu bar.
Maybe i should not have invested in a headset from a company that lost billions on it.
