I have recently been trying to switch from Virtual Desktop to Link/Air Link. I originally had problems with even loading Oculus Link, such as having 3 dots loading forever. That's why I used Virtual Desktop. After about a year I finally managed to fix the problem with the infinite loading by going to the Oculus Debug Tool in the files of the Meta Quest Link app, then changing the Encode Resolution Width from "0" to "1920" found under Oculus Link section of the tool. I could then finally launch Oculus Link. When I tried to open a game (Gorilla Tag, not through SteamVR but through the Meta Quest Link app) It would open the app on my PC, but not load the game into my (Quest 3/2). I've been frustrated with this problem so I tried to fix it. I then figured out what the problem was, which was setting the OpenXR runtime to the Oculus link OpenXR (which was previously VDXR [Virtual Desktop]). This sounds simple, which it is......... Buuut when I try to hit the button in the settings to switch the OpenXR... It does nothing.
I've seen this happen to other people on the community forums, and they managed to fix it. I've read through all the comments on fixing this problem, and none of them work (Repairing the app, unistalling > reinstalling the app, download software to switch the XR, changing the value to: C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\oculus_openxr_64.json in the Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1 section of the Registry app on windows). Nothing as seemed to work. I hope in the future the developers manage to fix this problem with the app because I've been through a LOT to get PCVR trying to work, and I'm sure other people have too.
Operating System: Windows 10
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 8950
Memory/RAM: 16.0 GB DDR3
I' am using Ethernet as well.
This problem has been getting frustrating for my 14 year old brain.
Hope this problem gets resolved for everyone 🙂
If you need anymore info just let me know, I'm pretty sure I got everything down.

Yes, I've been looking forward to trying to get a new PC, but I just blew all my money out on a quest 3 😅. I've been aware of my PC not meeting the requirements; I've still been able to run Oculus Link and Virtual Desktop decently well, avg around 70-80 FPS when playing Gorilla Tag. I don't find much of an issue with it, just some delay when playing because my maximum upload speed for my internet provider is 10 megabits/s (it sucks). I'm just wondering on how to fix this issue with switching XR's. So, that way I can have some way of playing with Link Cable instead of Virtual Desktop for higher bitrate and less delay. I don't really see why having not met the requirements would prevent me from switching XR's. I found that other people who had this problem had met the requirements and they still had trouble switching.
Hope that this can get fixed 🙏.

I accidently said Oculus Link and Virtual Desktop, I only meant Virtual Desktop. "I've still been able to run Oculus Link and Virtual Desktop decently well, avg around 70-80 FPS when playing Gorilla Tag"

Hi there,
We understand how frustrating the issue of not reaching the requirements,
when you are trying to get back to gaming!
But not to worry, we will do our best to get to the bottom of this issue for you.
Here is a link to the requirements to use the Meta Quest Link cable.
Unfortunately, failure to meet the requirements could result in the type of gameplay issues you are having.
However, you can adjust the settings for the graphic performance
of your Meta Quest Link from the Meta Quest PC app on your computer.
If you have any further questions, please feel free reach out to us here.

I got a question. Let's say that I had the good enough hardware to meet the requirements, but switching between XR's was still not working. Is there any possible way in fixing this? I understand if they're has not been a possible solution to fixing this. I would just like to know if there is a way?? 🤔

Hi again,
Presuming you had the hardware requirements required you should not have any issues switching between XR's,
however, if you were to have such issues, we'd be more than happy to help assist with the troubleshooting
to find out where the issue is coming from first before trying our best to resolve the issue for you.
If you have any more questions please feel free to ask!
