Cannot follow friend and vice versa.

I've been perusing all the forum posts I can on this subject and I followed every piece of advice that was discussed.

• Have you migrated your Facebook account into a Meta account?
  Yes
• Have you or your friends recently changed your profiles from Public to Private? (or vice-versa)
  No
• Are you able to send them an Invite to Party? Can they send you an invite?
  No - to both questions
• Are you or your friends still able to send Chat Messages?
  No
• Can you or your friends see each others Activity or Active Status?
  No
• Have you checked your blocked profiles? 
  Yes, neither of us has blocked the other.
  
  We cannot follow each other. When we go to each other's profiles, it simply shows a block or report triple dot option, no follow option. We have even gone through the meta quest app. We live in the same household. We have tried doing this on the same network, on separate networks. We are friends with each other on facebook itself, and when I look her up, it even says "Facebook Friends" but still, we can not befriend one another. She is on the meta quest 2, I am on the meta quest 3. 
  
  I have tried going through the support, but I cannot find the right things to click to speak with someone directly about fixing this. This isn't a hardware issue, so there is no reason for me to put my serial number in, something, by the way, which I can't do anyway because I can't read that tiny print on the arm of my quest 3.
  
  Edit: I did finally figure out how to get in touch with someone to try to help. So far everything we've tried has been unsuccessful, and I've been escalated. I just don't understand how and why this has happened. It is incredibly frustrating, and I am still no closer to any answers.
