Ive had this stutter now for over a week and ive tried almost everything to fix it. Ive reinstalled graphics drivers (wiped with ddu), ive moved things to different USB ports and i have updated my drivers. I have a good system (6600k @4.5ghz, 1080ti, 16gb of ram and ssd's) so im thinking its not system speed related. I pulled up the performance overlay and it looks like im dropping a frame when the stutter happens. This stutter happens in iRacing and the oculus home screen. Any suggestions?

I dont have the luxury of testing my Oculus on another computer. Switching out parts would cost too much. These forums are littered with people complaining of the samething. Im not ready to say its my rift yet but signs are pointing that way. Whats odd is ive read several post of people having the same exact time line as my issue. Everything worked great for a few days and then the judders started and they kept getting worst.

i can point you in the first steps of the software re-install but then you are on your own buddy

there are many things it could be... could be headset or could be other hardware

if you are a PC gamer isolation testing is the only method we have or testing what it is

here is the windows install
https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10ISO

then NVIDIA drivers

then be sure to do VCRedist and DirectX (installs with fresh install of oculus or games)

a clean install will prove its hardware, there is no quick fix its all trial and error

you can send it back to oculus if you want, thats not solving the problem as it could remain with the headset even if you return it and it comes back... still lagging

Im willing to exhaust all reasonable options before i send it back. I use this for sim racing so without it im not sim racing. I will try to usb card tomorrow night and then reinstall windows if that doesn't work.

Just an update on something i found out. When i run the steam vr test (ran it 5 times, i drop 0 frames and never fall under 90fps. Seems to be an issue with Oculus and not so much my PC.

Heres my logs I sent Oculus. Maybe someone can figure out whats going on.

It looks like some sort of USB incompatibility. This likely means your USB controller has incorrect drivers, and you can try either updating to latest (usually found on your motherboard company's website) or reverting to Microsoft default if that doesn't work. You can also try the Inateck card as that should definitely work.

The inateck card came today and i will try to install it tonight. Ive read that it cant power all 2 sensors and the rift. Is this true and if it is, what should i connect to it. Thanks for replying cyber!!

Trial and error, every system is a bit different. I'd try the headset alone first though. You really need clean power to that.

I had bad stuttering whenever it was full screen and playing VR. My fix was to set DSR -Factors "OFF" in the Nvidia Control Panel. After changing it to off, the full screen stuttering went away. Specifically, I set "Adjust image settings with preview" to "Let the 3D Application decide" and then I went to "Manage 3D Settings" and verified DSR -Factors was off, if not I set it off

I know an old discussion but I was having the same problem, I tried everything suggested and things from other posts and nothing worked.  Then I downloaded an old Nvidia driver from July 2017, did a clean install and my rift started running beautifully. No stutter, no skip just nice and smooth.   I don't know why I didn't think that the GPU driver was the problem.

I hate when OP's don't provide closure to a thread! Did the inateck card work for him?! I need to know! 😛
