Casting view : We do not see bottom of screen

Hello everyone,

I've encountered an issue while casting my Meta Quest 3 to my PC. When I view the cast on my PC screen, the bottom part of the display is cut off, almost as if the view is misaligned or improperly framed. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, do you have any solutions or suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks!

Hi there, @daa.vr.004!

We know running into issues casting can really take the fun out of VR, so we'd be more than happy to lend a hand with this! Could you please try out the following for us when you get a chance:

  • Please ensure both devices are on the exact same network. (ex. If the router has a 5GHZ and 2GHZ channel, all the devices must be on the same channel)
  • Try Casting to your TV and/or Casting to Phone. This will help us narrow the cause down, and make sure it is not a casting issue all around.

Please let us know how this goes for you, so we are able to assist you further!

Have a great day!

That's how the Quest 3 natively streams the video. Will need to make sure you look slightly down when video capturing.

I know just enough about tech to look like I know what I'm doing.

Hey there, @daa.vr.004! Thank you for bringing this to our attention! We see that you are having issues with casting from your Meta Quest 3 to your PC. We would like to provide you with some steps on how to cast from your headset to your PC. Please check out the following:

Cast to a Computer

  1. On your computer, go to oculus.com/casting with Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge and log in to your Meta account.
  2. Put your headset on and press Meta.png  or  oculus icon  on your controller to open the universal menu.
  3. Go to Camera image.png
  4. Select Computer image.png
  • If you do not see your computer listed, make sure that your headset and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

        6. Select Done

We hope that you found this helpful, now if you are still having issues, please do not hesitate on reaching back out to us for further assistance!

I've been having the same issue. Meta gave me the same standard answer. That solves nothing. It really takes the fun out of showing someone the video afterwards, seeing as half of it is missing (bottom) I was playing Arizona Sunshine today and the subtitles don't even show up in the video that I recovered. Mind you I was "looking slightly down" to read it. But it still didn't show in my video. Pretty lame.

Have the same problem and it's very frustrating when trying to help my child play and I have to keep telling her to look down all the time.

This is not a problem with wifi connection or anything like that. Seems more like a software issue that meta need to fix insted of telling people to do this and that coz none of it works.

I feel it would be more useful if you read the issue before trying to help. They said the bottom part of the screen was missing, because it's a square picture cast onto a wide display.

Why would their WiFi change that?

This is ridiculous! Why are we getting canned replies from your Meta Support?  I have this same issue. When you record a video or cast a video from your Quest 3 headset, it doesn't show the lower screen unless you look down on purpose. Captions will not shown because they're way in the bottom unless you purposely look down which is unnatural when you're trying to play a game and recording/casting at the same time.

I'm also adding to this thread in the hope of getting an answer. It's almost like there is a scaling issue. Is that a TV, phone or headset problem? I'd happily have black bars at the edge of the image if I could see the bottom section of the screen. It makes it harder to share an experience and to teach people about the Meta Quest if you can't see everything.
