Constantly being kicked back to home screen when trying to play certain games

As of last night when I try to play certain games (Star Wars Tales from Galaxy and Blade and Sorcery) it loads up for about 15 seconds then I see the 3 oculus loading dots and takes me back to the home screen. 

 

I have read online I need to do a hard reset? How do I do this? Also how do I save current data on all the games I have so far. Any other info would be appreciated!

 

The only thing I can think of different is that when I installed Star Wars Tales from the Galaxy (a few days ago) I was over data storage and it somehow deleted storage to make up for the game (without me doing it).

Hey there, @Condor0628. Thank you for letting us know that your having an issue with Gorilla Tag kicking you out and returning you to the home screen. Having something like this happen while you're playing can certainly take all of the fun out of your VR experience, and we would like to help out with this. For us to get to the bottom of this, can you tell us the following?

 

  • Does this happen to you with other games?
  • Are you launching your games from the Meta Quest mobile app? If so, have you uninstalled and reinstalled the app?

 

Here is how to do this:

 

To uninstall the Meta Quest mobile app from your Android phone:

  1. From your phone’s home screen, go to Settings.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Scroll down and tap the Meta Quest app, then tap Uninstall.

To uninstall the Meta Quest mobile app from your iPhone:

  1. From your iPhone’s home screen, find the Meta Quest app.
  2. Tap and hold the Meta Quest app until it shakes and is marked with a small X in the top left corner of the app.
  3. Tap X, then tap Delete.

Hey I’ve tried hard reset, downloading and redownloading the app, and deleting some games and it still didn’t work and it’s only for this game called vrchat, but it still shows the 3 dots and sends me back to my oculus menu

With any other apps it lets me play but it’s only vrchat that kicks me out like this. I’ve tried everything but it’s still doesn’t work

  • Are you using your headset in standalone or connected to a PC?
  • If connecting to a PC for PCVR gaming, are you using a Link cable or Air Link?
  • Was this app downloaded from the Meta platform or another third-party platform?
  • Has this app ever launched properly in the past?

I am using just an headset, but I’ve waited a week for the problem to fix itself and it never worked. the problem is when I open the app, it shows a black screen with three dots indicating that it’s loading and then it sends me back to my oculus menu, I’ve tried hard resetting it, deleting the app, turning it on power off, and it still didn’t work, With other apps it works but vrchat is the only app that’s doing this, my storage is great because I barely play any other games and all my permissions are okay too, idk what else to do

It has worked properly in the past it just started doing this recently like a week ago, I didn’t play my headset that day and when I loaded up my vr and tried to play in it kicked me out so I was confused and I kept doing it for these past days, I’m scared that I can’t play it again because I’ve had done a lot of things on there

Thank you for letting us know! Moving forward, we recommend making sure your Meta Quest mobile app and headset are updated to the latest software version. To update your headset, you can use these steps. Then you can try uninstalling then reinstalling this app using these instructions. Let us know your results and we can continue from there!

It didn’t work, the updates are are up to date and there’s no need for an update for the app, and when I unstalled and reinstalled it does the same thing, it shows three dots with a black screen and sends me back to my menu please help

We appreciate you giving those steps a try, @Hao.asakura1! Next, we recommend undoing any changes that might have been made to the headset recently if applicable (Refresh Rate, Hand Tracking, Experimental Settings, etc...). You can also try logging out then into the phone app to refresh this app on your account. We also suggest trying a hard reboot with these steps:

  1. Turn off your headset.
  2. Firmly hold the power and volume down (-) buttons on your headset simultaneously for about a minute, or until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight 'Boot device' and press the power button to complete that.
