Since the v68 update was installed on my Quest 3 headset, I have began experiencing severe issues with joystick detection - particularly after a short while of using hand tracking mode.
How the issue occurs exactly:
1. I place my controllers right outside of the edge of the play area
2. I continue playing (VRC) in hand-tracking mode for a while (5-10 minutes)
3. I pick up my controllers to resume joystick tracking
4. One or two of the controllers will no longer wake up. They have no outline, and are not detected in the quest operating system itself no matter what buttons are pressed, or if the joysticks are tapped together, or moved in/out of the play area. Sleeping and waking up the quest does not help either.
This was never an issue previously, but now after the update it tends to happen regularly, with no easy way to fix it.
Once the controllers stop waking up when picked up, nothing helps except removing and putting the battery back into the sticks (a massive chore when you use grip covers that need to be removed each time), or a full Quest 3 reboot with the power button.
The problem is very severe and occurs with ease. I get it multiple times per night while playing VRC through wireless virtual desktop.
Everything worked fine prior to the v68 update.
Please issue some kind of a fix!! This is a crippling issue.

Also experiencing this while being on desktop (controllers put away, no handtracking used), or in VRChat (PC, doesn't matter if Virtual Desktop or Steam Link) or using my gamepad playing something - as long as the touch controllers are able to go into standby for a long time, one or both controllers won't be able to be woken up, unless I restart my headset or remove and refit the batteries for the controllers.
This is REALLY annoying and only happens since update v68! The new firmware for the controllers, which came with v68, are 100% the issue!

Thank you novazek for confirming the issue.
Meta support suggested to unpair and pair the controllers again - this did NOT fix the issue at all!
v68 update broke the controllers, please fix the update with a hotfix! It's an obvious problem related to the last update.

I have the same issue since update 68. wenn I play simRacing games on steam Vr using virtual desktop and puting my controller to the side for a couple of minutes, then they dont wake up and are frozen on the old location. even if I close virtual desktop a go back to Quet 3 menu they don t track again. I have to take out bateries multiple time to make them track again. never had this issue before and i M PLAYING vr SINCE Oculus quest 1 in 2019.

Please change the controller batteries and let us know what is the LED status. Is it blinking? Solid? Is there no light at all?
If a blinking or solid light appears then we can unpairing and repairing the controllers. You can see how to do so by clicking on this link.
If the issue persist then you could try a factory reset for the controllers. To do so please:
Use the correct button combination to start the factory reset process.
Right: Hold the A button and tap the Home (Meta logo) button 5 times.
Left: Hold the X button and tap the Menu button 5 times.
The LED will blink orange/white while the factory reset is being performed.
The LED will then change to light blue during boot.
Controllers can be used again as normal once the boot is complete.
All this steps are for nothing and did n t change my problem. controller still freeze withe new batterie.
factory rest do n t work at all.
