Controller killed itself mid game

Made with chatgpt because I already spent hours trying to communicate with meta support.

I am writing because I am incredibly frustrated with the ongoing issues I’ve faced regarding my right controller. Despite following all troubleshooting steps and attempting every possible fix (reboots, resets, ADB commands, and pairing attempts), my controller remains stuck in firmware update mode with no way to resolve it.

What’s most infuriating is that your support team has repeatedly given me unhelpful and basic troubleshooting steps that I’ve already tried. To be blunt, I’ve wasted hours on the phone and in live chat only to be told the same thing over and over again, as if I’m a beginner who doesn’t know the basics.

I should not be expected to buy a new controller because your product has failed. This is unacceptable, and the lack of meaningful support makes it clear that Meta is not interested in actually fixing the root cause of the problem.

I should not be forced to gamble with another controller, especially when this one failed for no apparent reason and could very well just “kill itself” again mid-game. Meta’s approach here is lazy, and your customer service is beyond frustrating. I expect a real solution, not more canned responses.

  • If this issue cannot be addressed immediately, then I demand a full resolution for this defective product — whether through replacement, repair, or another viable option.

Warranty ran out 23 Dec 2024.

Did not even get to use it for very long as meta decided that they would delete the account I spent money on because I was under the age of 13. I'm 17. I have to pay extra because I was a late bloomer?

It totally sucks that the controller isn’t working the way it is supposed to. It sounds like you have tried everything that was suggested by the support team.

But if your warranty has passed and you didn't pay for extended coverage the only option left is to purchase a replacement. It sucks when you need to pay for something that stops working, I get it. But when an electronic device malfunctions and the date of the coverage in the past it is what it is.

The point of paying for extended coverage… to get extended coverage. If they just covered your malfunctioning controller out of warranty that means the extra money I paid (and every other person that paid for extended coverage) just got screwed out of the money they paid for the extra protection.
