Crackling Audio with Wired Link and Q3 suddenly

stlredbird97

I hadn't played PCVR with the wired link (official link cable) in about a month. Came back to it today to play Lone Echo 2 and found the audio to be very crackly/stuttering. Tried First Contact and had the same issue. Using Virtual Desktop I don't have the issue so it's not a headset or PC issue.

I have updated the audio drivers and it looks like the Meta app updated 16 hours ago.

I have restarted my PC and Q3 multiple times.

Checked to make sure that the Oculus Virtual Audio Device was selected and not at 100% volume (as others have had that as their issue)

And I have tried several other things suggested over the years aside from reinstalling Windows completely.

Below are my Debug settings (I have an RTX 3080)

Hey there, we want to make sure you're able to hear your games clearly without any crackling, we're happy to look into this for you! We'll start with a few questions.

  • Can you try a different usb port for the link cable?
  • What color is the usb port you're plugging into?
  • Can you try air link to see if it still has this challenge?
  • can you make sure you oculus app is updated?

This will be a good start so we can dig further into this. We're looking forward to hearing back from you!

The different usb port was the issue. Unfortunately I only have one USB-C port so I had to get an adapter to be able to plug into my one USB 3.2 port.

Hi again, Thanks for getting back to us!

In regards to the USB port, have you used the cable and adapter successfully before with no audio issues? Or is this the first time?

Hope to hear from you soon.

I’ve used that cable and usb-c port since I built the computer in December 2020 with no issue.

Thanks for letting us know!
