This is it exactly what sux about Win 10. Or maybe it isn't really Win10. It is the combination of OS, Oculus, and some hardware / software which is causing problems for some users, while everything is ok for others. The whole combination seems to be somewhat fragile 🙂
Just now Oculus basically recommends to use Win 10 for best performance, expecially with regards to ASW.
But incidents like these really make me reluctant trying... time is expensive and limited enough as it is. I might refrain from updating my currently perfectly running system for fear of having to roll it back. The possbile performance gain just is not (yet) important enough (for me with current configuration) to take the risk.
I certainly hope those issues get sorted in the near future, so the Oculus hardware runs stable as a rock on all supported platforms!

I had a problem with oculus sensor not being detected and I did all sorts of stuff including redownloading the oculus software and trying to repair it, changing usb ports, to going into regedit and making changes.
I noticed the oculus sensor was in the device manager under other devices tab. Which I took as it wasn't picking up the drivers for it for some reason. I tried updating, disabling, and uninstalling. It seems the problem is windows is not picking up the drivers for some reason.
If you go to oculus sensor and select update driver software, then select browse my computer for driver software. I found the drivers in the c:\program files>Oculus VR runtime drivers>Drivers>Rift Sensor.
It picked it up immediately and I haven't had any problems since. Maybe that will work.
If your having sensor disconnects this may not help, if its just straight up not working, this is how I got it to work...
