I bought the Meta Quest in the UK (where I live) and went to Ireland for Christmas. We tried using the gift cards my sons got as presents in Ireland and were unable due to them being in sterling. I bought meta cash (using a UK bank account). Credit went on as euros. Games were purchased and my boy was happy.
Now the issue……
we travelled back to the UK 28th December 2024 and when we arrived back home in the UK my son went to use his gift cards. He was unable to do so due to some credit being left on the account in euros (€3.02 in total). I contacted support (on multiple occasions) with no resolution. Still on going and everytime someone picks up the “ticket” we get one of the answers that we have already been given before and they try and close the ticket.
What has been tried……….
1. Transfer the remaining credit - unable to do as in euros and under €5.
2. Use the credit up buying a game - unable to do as currency is in Euros and not sterling.
3. Asked for a refund - unable to do as apparently it’s classed as a gift card - even though a UK bank card was used.
4. Add the gift card - unable to do due to currency being in euros.
5. Ask the customer support to change currency - they are unable to do due to €3.02 on account - flabbergasted at this.
6. remove all funds so I can use the gift card - have asked since 28/12/2024 - can’t do as it is with their “specialist” team - since said date.
7. Factory reset - done. Money still there as games and quest cash attached to profile - no good.
8. Multiple agents spoken to - all say the same things as above which none work. Again mind blown due to META apparently being one of the top leading companies but any of the SIMPLE tasks asked above do not work.
Has anyone got any useful ideas that will work as the agents do not seem to know what they are doing and all because of €3.02 my son is unable to have the experience he should be having. I shouldn’t have to lose the money spent on the games I paid for on Christmas Day by having to make a new account for him.
Really poor communication and really poor outcome from META and their team. It’s embarrassing. I have asked for a formal complaints procedure, I just keep getting fobbed off.
