I've set up my joystick for all the basic controls in spitfire and the other aircraft. Changes all saved etc. In training mode in the Spit all buttons work well but the tutorial stops when I'm asked to open the canopy. Secondly, in instant play mode in all aircraft, pitch and roll controls work but the other buttons (throttle, trim, gear etc) do not respond, Hand controllers seem fine on switches in the cockpit. Any ideas? Cheers. Using a Thrustmaster T16000 btw.
Each aircraft has its own separate joystick configuration. This allows for customizing controls for each aircraft but also means you have to make a profile for every single aircraft and often even varients (see Su-27, J-11A and Su-33). Additionally, there are two control modes, one for "game mode" and another for the standard mode. If you are flying the same plane, it's likely you accidentally switched modes.
Yes, I bound all the controls to the T16000 in DCS. I checked and I am in the right mode. Still can't get some stick buttons to work in instant play mode. Back to the drawing board...cheers.
With regard to the first point above, I just realised i was jettisoning the cockpit rather than opening it duh!
