Dash 2.0 (Window Pinning To Experience) (Guardian system) Performance Impact

Hi Oculus devs,

I've noticed a huge performance loss using dash 2.0 software and oculus software. It is two fold. The brass tacks: the Guardian overlay causes a performance loss up to ~20% (or down from 30% overhead to 9% overhead according to OTT). The Dash 2.0 Window tear out and pinning to experience causes up to ~50% performance loss according to OTT.

Now, this does come with some "gotchas" or concealed load. You will find this should be inconsequential and even beneficial, I will explain. I have:
  1. 1 browser open (this page +2 tabs reddit and twitch channel page doing nothing)
  2. Oculus Tray Tool showing performance
  3. Oculus diagnostic mirroring tool at 720p
  4. task manager
  5. OBS software for streaming (INACTIVE)
OBS is not active, it is not recording or streaming. The encoder is not running (amd h-encode 720p60fps anyway not huge even when active).

With this minor load, I have found the performance losses from 1. Guardian overlay system, and 2. dash window pinning a simple small window, to be absolutely stunning in the oculus home. NOT even gameplay.

This minor load does not contribute, it only un-obscures and demonstrates the flaws I have found. These flaws still impact performance without this minor load, but their impact is lessened to an extent.

I have taken 3 screenshots found below:

The Good Case. NO window pinning, NO guardian:

The Dash 2.0 window pinning case:

The Guardian overlay system case:

This I have found to be too large of a performance impact to ignore, this can be done better, I don't believe this is the limit.

My specs:
CPU: AMD R5 1600
RAM: 8gb 2133Mhz C13 ddr4
GPU: AMD Sapphire nitro+ rx480 4gb

Thanks, I hope this helps clarify how the software needs to improve and where. I realize my PC is on the lower end of VR, some people may ignore my post based simply on this. Please, judge my findings on merit as VR needs to be accessible to be successful.

Note: Window pinning makes all oculus gameplay unplayable
