Design flaw. Touch

Like most flaws, nobody knows about them until somebody brakes something.

So, here is my discovered design flaw.

I was playing in "Rec Room", the racket ball game. It's like tennis or handball. As I am swinging my racket to hit the ball coming at me, I inadvertently impact something in the real world and the touch wrist string instantly deconstructs itself from it's design parameters. So, in my zeal to continue with the game, I try to put the string back into the rubber plug that holds the string in the Touch. Well, there is no way to install a string into the rubber plug once it has be vacated with traumatic force. My next thought was to transplant the plug from the left Touch, and this is where I realize the second design flaw of the wrist strap. The plug is formed to only fit the left touch. It is a mirror of the right. Something like this, should be universal, not left or right only.

Design flaws:
1. The wrist strap must be user replaceable.
2. The holding mechanism should be universal, not left or right sided.
- . There should be at least 1 extra included with the system. It is apparently designed to be expendable.
- . The Touch sensors should have rechargeable batteries, or include rechargeable batteries instead of one use disposables. Better yet a Qi wireless rechargeable battery. A storage cradle for the Touches could very easily manage this.

Why don't you just tie a stopper knot on a loop of string and shove it into the hole?

Designed to stop you throwing it, not smacking it against a wall.

My controllers have battle scars from the smaller room I was in until I moved the entire machine into the living room area.  I guess I'm fortunate that I never hit the parts of the controllers with the straps so they're all good right now.  Aside from that, these are industrial strength, they should have shattered or broken completely with the abuse they've taken so far.  Luckily they haven't had any collision accidents since the move.  I would hate to not have the straps, I'd be afraid either I or someone else would let go of the controller at some point....

Do you see the size of the hole?

I wanted to make a VR room also, I figured just get longer cables and viola, empty out the room and done. nunanayyy says the high speed USB and HDMI gods. 15 feet is pretty much the limit to the length of cables. I don't really want to have a computer and screen down in the corner of the room just so I can not smash into everything with Robo Recal. I already wrap my self up with the wires as it is.

VR needs to be completely wireless, so I can go in my white room (ie nothing but padded walls, ya know like a psycho-ward cell).

We are on the path to the holo deck! Probably 28000 versions to go through though until we get there.

Loose the rubber plug.
Take a shoe lace or similar.  I used an eyeglass retainer thing ... thick braided cord, could be smaller ... simple knot barely fit into the hole. Used a screwdriver to push it in there, and it's tight.
