I've got an old headset tied to my account, but I can't remove it to hopefully make way for my RMA'd headset to pair with my controllers. Bummer

Are you able to remove it by clicking on it on the meta domain? It sounds like a server sync issue possibly due to the whole shift to meta accounts and the like. I'd try that, and wait a day or two to see if the server sync fixes itself. If not, your best bet is to submit a support ticket or update your agent on the issue.
