Disappointed and Frustrated with Meta Quest 3 – 4 Replacements in 6 Months! Known Defect!

I purchased the Meta Quest 3 in May 2024, and I’ve been nothing but disappointed and frustrated with this product. In just six months, I’ve had to replace the headset **four times** due to the same recurring issue: the left lens goes black. The most recent replacement arrived last week, and after only **two uses** (totaling about an hour), the same problem occurred again.

 

This isn’t just bad luck—it’s a **known issue**. A quick search online shows countless other users reporting the same problem with the Quest 3. Black screens, lens issues, and other defects are widespread, and it’s clear that Meta has a serious quality control problem with this product.

 

I’ve done everything to take care of this device. I baby it—no drops, no rough handling, and I store it carefully. I’ve even read that sweat might be a factor, so with the last two replacements, I implemented a strict regimen: I wiped myself down before use, avoided getting overly sweaty, and changed out the facial interfaces regularly to keep everything clean and dry. Despite all this, the issue persists. It’s clearly a defect, not user error.

 

Meta Support has been unhelpful. They’ve offered me yet another replacement, but after four defective units, I’m not interested in getting another one. I asked for a refund, but they refused, citing that the original device is no longer in my possession. Now, they’ve told me they need to send my case to a **specialized team** for further review, which worries me because it sounds like they might not even replace it this time. After four replacements and countless hours of troubleshooting, I’m starting to feel like I’m being strung along.

 

I’m beyond frustrated. I spent over $600 on a product that has failed me repeatedly, and Meta’s support team seems unwilling to provide a real solution. This isn’t just my experience—it’s a widespread problem. If you’re considering buying the Meta Quest 3, I’d strongly advise against it. The quality control is clearly lacking, and the support experience is disappointing. Save yourself the headache and look for a more reliable product.

 

**TL;DR:** Four replacements in six months due to a black screen in the left lens—a known issue with the Quest 3. Meta Support refuses to refund me, and now they’re sending my case to a specialized team, leaving me worried they won’t even replace it this time. Avoid this product unless you want to deal with constant defects and poor customer service.
