Does meta plan on supporting linux?

Does Meta Plan on Supporting Linux, which is growing in popularity because of the Steam deck and OS's like Bazite?  I use Bazzite and don't have access to my PC Meta games, and I would like to know this.  I only want to know because it's going to be the deciding factor, in whether I change VR headsets when Valve comes out with their stand-alone VR headset.  What are your thoughts on this? Has anyone got the Meta app working on Linux?

They never have, so I wouldn't hold your breath. Linux has been on the verge of being a viable mass-market desktop OS for decades now but it's still just too fiddly (and with way too many different distributions) for the majority of non-technical home users.

i think you're wrong with that, I think when steam os 3 is released for desktops it will take a good portion of the market. it's growing faster than it ever has.

We'll see. Steam Machines weren't exactly a success. I'd love to see Linux finally break into the mainstream (yes, I know about Android) desktop market, but it's a tall mountain to climb.

The first Rifts used to support Linux, but they discontinued support a decade ago and haven't given any indication of resuming it since.

Meta don't really want to support PC. They barely keep the current Windows app running (and remove features that were popular like the home). I don't see them putting in the effort to support more operating systems.

However SteamLink (made by Valve) lets a Quest headset play SteamVR games bypassing the Meta software. So Valve could port that to SteamOS and connect the same as they do now, they don't need Meta to do it.
