Download on app for Asgard's Wrath stops and loses progress

Fraggabomba
Explorer

Hi, as per title. Whenever i try to download Asgard Wrath on PC it stops at some point (not always the same) and then it results "not installed" and didn't retain the data downloaded, if i restart the download it starts from the beginning and the cycle repeats. I tried downloading and stopping manually and then restart, it works, but if i have to get lucky for it not to stop itself... until now, no luck! Very very annoying. Please help.

Hi @Fraggabomba 🙂

I can imagine how annoying this is.

Asgard's Wrath is a pretty big download, around 130GB, maybe it's your internet connection that's causing the interruption?
I mean... if the download keeps stopping at a different point, it's probably not due to a corrupted file.🤔
I could be wrong though...

Well no, i made to sure to check i'm stayin online the whole time. Even reinstallin meta app doesn't work. Online i saw people suggesting VPN. That doesn't work as well.

Hmm... maybe YOU are online but the link app loses connection?

I hope someone else or support can give you some useful tips.

Hi Fraggabomba (awesome name!)

There are a few things you can try to get Asgard's Wrath installed, making sure that all bases have been covered:

  • Try a Different Library Location: Sometimes, changing the download location can help.
  • Try a wired internet connection: At times, your WIFI signal can drop out and cause a download to either stop completely or corrupt. This can be very frustrating when attempting to download such a large file.
  • Try a different drive: There is a possibility that your hard drive could be damaged and is the root cause of the issue. Either attempt to download the game to a separate drive or you can rule this issue out by attempting to download another large file to the same drive. I would also advise checking the health of your drive

You can follow this simple guide to do so:

  • Open Command Prompt:
  • Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Enter.
  • Run WMIC Command:
  • Type wmic and press Enter. If the status shows “OK,” your drive is in good condition.

  • Disable Antivirus Temporarily: (Windows Security Real-Time protection/Windows Defender) Your antivirus software might be interfering with the download.

Open Windows Security:

  • Click on the Start menu.
  • Type Windows Security in the search bar and press Enter.

Navigate to Virus & Threat Protection:

  • In the Windows Security app, click on Virus & threat protection.

Manage Settings:

  • Under the Virus & threat protection settings section, click on Manage settings.

Turn Off Real-Time Protection:

  • Find the Real-time protection toggle switch and turn it Off.
  • If prompted by User Account Control (UAC), click Yes to confirm.

Remember, turning off real-time protection makes your device more vulnerable to threats. Make sure to turn it back on once you’ve completed your download.

  • Delete the OculusSoftwareStaging Directory: Sometimes, the download can get stuck due to corrupted files in this directory.

Close Oculus Software:

  • Make sure the Oculus app and any related processes are completely closed. You can do this by right-clicking the Oculus icon in the system tray and selecting Quit.

Open File Explorer:

  • Press Win + E to open File Explorer.

Navigate to the Oculus Directory:

  • Go to the following path: C:\Program Files\Oculus\

Locate the OculusSoftwareStaging Directory:

  • In the Oculus folder, find the OculusSoftwareStaging directory.

Delete the Directory:

  • Right-click on the OculusSoftwareStaging directory and select Delete.
  • Confirm the deletion if prompted.

Empty the Recycle Bin:

  • Right-click on the Recycle Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycle Bin to permanently remove the files.

Restart Your Computer:

  • Restart your computer to ensure all changes take effect.

If you have gone through each of these steps and are still having issues, please get come back to us and we can continue to investigate!

Best wishes,

I have the same issue.

I set a new folder to download. I have set the whole folder as an exception in Windows Defender Antivirus.

It does not help.
