Elite Dangerous + DK2 ingame resolution problems

Hi guys, I'm back on Elite Dangerous to discover Horizon.
As said in the topic name, I have an oculus rift dk2 with runtime 0.8.0.0. I've got the non-steam game and the native resolution of my main screen is 1680x1050.
When I activate the Dk2, the best resolution ingame is 1680x1050 (60hz, 100hz or 120hz). How could I force ED to be launched in the hmd at the best resolution for my dk2 (1920x1080 @75hz)?

Nvidia drivers are updated, steamvr installed and I also created a custom resolution in nvidia control panel but I still can't play ED with a better resolution than my main screen's.
I'm worried about CV1 and runtime 1.0, I can't buy a new screen just because of it...

Thanks

You have 2 options.
Option 1 is to use the oculus runtime 0.5 so you can play E:D in extended mode. See here

Option 2 is to set your main screen to a custom 1920x1080@75Hz resolution. If your monitor can't do that, you can try 1280x768@75Hz, which is what I have to use (the game still appears to be running at 1080p).
You can do that through the nvidia control panel under: Display -> Change Resolutions, then click Customize.
Note that you need to have SteamVR beta installed for it to work even though you are not running the game through steam.

Then when you launch Horizons you change the graphics settings to your custom resolution, select 75 Hz and change 3d options to HMD Headphones. Hit Apply then accept the changes.

Like grodenglaive said, you will need to start SteamVR and configure it for a standing experience and then start the stand alone version of Elite with SteamVR running in the background. This should give you the ability to set VR graphics options in Elite. My monitor runs at 120 Hz, so I use the 119 Hz refresh option and I see no judder in game. I would try this as it works great for me.

After you run the game once like this, you will no longer need to run SteamVR and the game will automatically start on the DK2.

The resolution you see in the options menu is unrelated to DK2 resolution.

Elite, additionally to rendering to a DK2, draws to a window as well. The resolution in the settings menu is the resolution of this preview inside the window.

So far, the only thing which is related to your screen is the refresh rate (which needs to be fixed, but this is an another topic...). Just set your screen to a resolution, which supports 75Hz refresh rate and you are good to go (personally I play on 1024x768, because it is the lowest resolution supporting 75Hz on my screen).

Ok, thanks a lot. In my defence, that's a bit confusing ^^
I had to create a custom res, because the screen doesn't support 75hz (btw it's a 120hz 3dvision ready lol).

btw I stopped using the steamVR method and instead run the game with the Oculus 0.5 runtime. The performance is much better that way (at least for my system).

If you have a 120Hz screen, you should be able to leave your Elite refresh at 119. I do that and it works perfectly (using Windows 10, SteamVR setup the first time you run the game, and the 0.8 Oculus runtime).

I have heard forcing refresh rates can damage your monitor over time, so forcing a custom res might not be a good plan.
