Hi folks,
I got an Elite strap with battery. This is a great accessory: very comfortable, double the play time and your Quest 2 is better balanced (counterweight).
However it is not perfect because the Oculus is always in "charge mode" if the Elite strap is left plugged EVEN if the Quest is powered down. This is very annoying.
Over the night, the head strap battery can lose 20/25% of its capacity.
The only workaround is to unplug the Elite USB-C wire after powering down the Quest.
I know many people got the same issue.
So, is it a bad hardware design? Or is it a software issue?
In the 2nd case, shall we hope for a possible update of the battery firmware (if it's even possible...)?
Or maybe a new Quest firmware could fix this issue?
If somebody from the support could answer to this. 😊
BTW, exchanging the "Elite Strap with battery" will not fix this issue since, as far I know, all the owners of the accessory got the same problem.
Best regards,
Seb

Same problem here, in France too, in Nancy.
Very disappointed to hear about the strap breaking problem, because we are going to put the Quest 2 in a showroom.

@LapinFou14 I got my nice new Elite strap with battery a month ago and really like it as well. The box on it shows it was built Aug/2021 so hopefully this batch is sturdier.
At first, with v34 the battery pack charge seemed to hold the same % charge as it was when I fully shutdown my Q2. Since v35 I seem to lose about 10-15% overnight. Not a big deal, and I guess I could just disconnect the elite battery strap headset connector, but this should not be necessary imho. I'm not sure, but I think this is something that Meta need to address asap. I'll start a support ticket on this but I'm not expecting much, lol!

Hello @TomCgcmfc. I found the solution. You have to disconnect the battery from the headset, when you dont' use it. If you let the connection, the headset supposes it is connected to a power supply, stays active and drains the battery.

Ya, this works but it should not be necessary imho. I have notified Oculus Support about this issue so hopefully it will be fixed in the next software/firmware updates.

I also have this same problem with my Elite strap with battery. It is a fairly recent batch (Aug/2021). I lose about 20% of the strap battery overnight. Unplugging it solves the problem but this should not be necessary imho. I started a Oculus Support ticket a couple of weeks ago and they say that they are investigating this to see if it can be corrected with future software/firmware updates. Time will tell I guess.

Hi, I came across your thread as I had the same issue so thought I'd check online to see if there was a solution.
Just wondering if you got any sort of reply from occulus support? I have unplugged my elite battery strap now after just turning it off .. it had 25% left after playtime (which started from 75% drained from just being off) so hopefully when I turn it back on I should still have 25% on the elite strap battery.
I'd rather not unplug it every single time though so interested to hear if it will be fixed with a software update or something.

No fix yet..

@user_901925786032222 when charging the elite strap you plug into the strap itself.. right under the adjustment part for the head strap.. bad place i think.
@LapinFou14 i wish USA had a 2 year guarantee. I charged up my whole unit last night.. and right after the light turned green, i put it on... my elite strap battery was only at 90%. so yeah i may need to do a different strap when this one breaks

Remember that the headset light turning green only means the headset battery is charged. It tells you nothing about the state of charge of the external battery. The external was probably still charging, not faulty.

Are you sure about that ?
@Gypsy_RoseAt least, this is one good thing in EU. The consumers are well protected.
