Exception encountered in RiftConfigUtil

Eiksei
Honored Guest

About the problem, i just unpacked my DK2 this afternoon, installed SDK, runtime and drivers, put every cables in every holes, and, Ô hapiness, the runtime found my headset and the camera.
Next step, i created a profile inside the runtime, and tried to make the measurements with the software in order to have a quite good experience, but I had an error which forced me to force close the process. There's the text:

"Doesn't matter", I thinked. "I'll try the demo". But, I'd got the same error.
Also, the Direct HMD doesn't do anything, and the extended mode gave to me chromatique aberration, but, with this thread (viewtopic.php?f=34&t=11190&start=20), I hope the direct mode will repair this.

I'd see two threads with similaries problems, viewtopic.php?f=34&t=17928 and viewtopic.php?f=34&t=17882 , but i think they can use the demo inside the runtime. I also upload the Report and Minidump :

Re everyone.
The problem seems to be only the fact that Windows doesn't put the HDM at primary output when it's asked by softwares. Also, it seem to be unrecognized by the whole system, expect for the SDK demo. To research the bug origin, don't forget that's only the VIDEO which doesn't work. Captors and sensors work perfectly well. I'll try to downgrade my CG drivers to base generics, 'cause nVidia could make conflicts because they have their own 3D drivers.
So please, for other persons who have this problem, please tell here if you're on other video cards than nVidia and if you use GForce software to update and manage your game graphics.

I'll edit this post in two or three hours I think. Bye !

EDIT : Just to say that I checked other reports on the forum, and they all seems to have a GTX nVidia card. Problem near to be resolved I think.

EDIT 2 : Runtime demo works well with the nVidia 337.50 driver for GTX 560m. But, Minecrift, Airdrift or Skyrim with Vireio continue to don't recognize the rift. Vireio doesn't show him in the monitor's section. I expect this information was usefull.

I know ^^ I'd just report my testing results to give you more informations to resolve this problem ^^

Also, I add that the use of TriDef change nothing, the DK2 doesn't receive any signal.

I get a similar error. The log is between the spoilers below. I needed to do a fresh windows reinstall in order for Elite Dangerous to work, but now the DK2 won't work anymore. What made it work was reverting back to 0.4.2 . Unfortunately 0.4.2 doesn't seem to be detected by the newest version of Elite Dangerous.

Does anyone have a lead on this?

Edit: Ok, the spoiler tags worked differently from how I expected. I removed them since they took up the same amount of space and they just made the text harder to read.

Again, nVidia GTX...
I think it's certain that the problem come from their drivers, making conflicts with Oculus drivers...
All we can do is waiting for a new Oculus runtime which is compatible or a new nVidia driver which include Oculus drivers...
Try to put a Code balise instead of the Spoiler balise.
Eikseï, Froggy-eater, waitin' a stable driver to play SKYRIM WITH THE RIFT !

It is not only nVidia...
I have the same problem with an AMD R9 290. I tried with the newest drivers and the old 14.4 version. I tried reinstalling video drivers and the oculus drivers, fresh from the web.

Direct mode never worked for me but the 4.4 oculus drivers give me for the first time an exception in demo from the OculusConfigUtil.

The exception info is:

Hi everyone,

Just opened my Rift today, and everything's plugged in and working (somewhat)

Exactly the same problem - the orange LED doesn't go blue like it should when the demo is loaded, and the big error log appears.

However, when I switch it to additional display mode and try it then, I can see the Windows background OK, except it's like looking at it dead close.

When I put the demo up, a similar problem occurs - the same image is presented to both eyes, and the images are squashed together to half-horizontal width. However, in this case the display works.

I am running Nvidia GTX 660Ti, Win7 x64, 16GB and 4.1GHz quad-core i5.

Does this happen with anyone else?
