Exception encountered in RiftConfigUtil

Eiksei
Honored Guest

About the problem, i just unpacked my DK2 this afternoon, installed SDK, runtime and drivers, put every cables in every holes, and, Ô hapiness, the runtime found my headset and the camera.
Next step, i created a profile inside the runtime, and tried to make the measurements with the software in order to have a quite good experience, but I had an error which forced me to force close the process. There's the text:

"Doesn't matter", I thinked. "I'll try the demo". But, I'd got the same error.
Also, the Direct HMD doesn't do anything, and the extended mode gave to me chromatique aberration, but, with this thread (viewtopic.php?f=34&t=11190&start=20), I hope the direct mode will repair this.

I'd see two threads with similaries problems, viewtopic.php?f=34&t=17928 and viewtopic.php?f=34&t=17882 , but i think they can use the demo inside the runtime. I also upload the Report and Minidump :

First, you should read my guide if you have not yet:

viewtopic.php?f=34&t=16768

Also, the double screen in each eye is an issue with the new Nvidia driver. 344.75 should work.

I had this problem, and I fixed it. 😄

After trying forever I gave up and decided to play League of Legends, and when I downloaded the game it updated some of my software (i'm not sure which ones), and then I thought after the software update might help the Oculus program. So I restarted my computer to finish the updates and the device was working.

I'd give you the the specifics if I knew what they were, but just try installing League, and the installer will update what needs updating.

I hope this works for everyone else having this problem. 🙂

Same problem here. Orange light in all regards other than doing the extended mode which caused me headaches like a night of binge drinking. OculusConfigUtil gives me the same "exception encountered" thing when I try to load the demo. When I close the window, it immediately goes "not responding" and I am sometimes unable to open the Utility again until after a reset. Same results with the laptop and PC.

If anyone has any advice, I would most appreciate it.

I can confirm this is happening on a test install machine for me also. The machine is Intel graphics only. No nvidia. The system, a Unity 4.6.1f1 application, ran for months previously and stopped working without a change to the oculus software (bios upgrade performed previously of course). This occurred with 04.3.1 rev1 being used. There may have been a change in the Unity version used to compile my application, but as with the others not even the demos work now. An upgrade of the oculus runtime to the current version did not change it.

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing the same problem with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 560v with 1Gb graphics.

The SDK is version 0.4.4.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The Rift Runs Well in
- The Demo Scene
- Half Life 2

with the following settings :
- Driver : 344.75
- Rift Display Mode : Extend Desktop to HMD

The First Test in Half Life 2 is absolutely stunning , Thanks For Making this stuff Guys ... it's crazy !

For the thing that could be enhance :
- massive chromatic aberration at the edge of the screen even after calibration
- the aliasing is not smooth at the edge of objects, AA *4 or *8 would be cool
- you feel the pixel of the screen on bright area: pushing the resolution higher could be cool for better immersion
- reduce the weight and size by 20%-30% would be fantastic

Keep Up the Magic guys !

Cheers

For the record (if it helps future investigation) my rift was working just fine until I went to play a game I was working on in unity. I just dropped dk2 support in, tested it in unity, worked fine. Built the binary, when to play it and now I get crashed with this exception: ACCESS_VIOLATION writing address 0x00000000.

And now I start to troubleshoot while at a coding jam.

Similar issue here. I'm trying to use the OculusConfigUtil's demo scene and the IPD Tool. Other demos work well. Everything was working well, but then I uninstalled and reinstalled a few times to try to improve judder, and now this has developed and will not go away even after reinstalling and clearing out AppData. I've noticed a common theme with most of these reports is that the exception is an access violation at memory location 0.

I have a GT 650M, i7-3720QM, 16GB RAM, and my dump is below. Let me know if any other information would be helpful.
