Face Tracking/Eye Tracking problems With Quest Pro

gasolineprices

Hi.  I'm having problems with face tracking with my headset.  When I enable "Natural Face Expressions" my avatar just gives this dead stare and it won't properly track.  Even if Eye Tracking is enabled, the eyes wont move.  The only thing that will move is the mouth, but that is if a sound goes through the mic.  If I disable face tracking, and leave eye tracking enabled, the eyes move properly.

I've tried the fit adjustment feature, but it is bugged.  at first, it used to flicker, and give me the wrong IPD for my eyes (it tells me to move  60 when my IPD is a lot higher than that.  It also thinks 60 is = to 70 too.  The fit adjustment won't even tell me if my headset is unaligned with my head anymore)  And now, I can't even get the fit adjustment to work.  If i enable it now, I get trapped in this lost tracking loop.

All of this used to work.

I'm not sure if this is just a software problem, or a hardware problem.  Is there anything I can do on my end?

Thanks.

I spent all afternoon trying and even if I manage to enable all 3 and then disable Fit Adjustment it is still absolutely unusable. It doesn't get into the same loop, but the world is like....stuck to my face, even if controllers are tracking. I did the shaking, tilting, put my left foot in, put my left foot out. I would not call the process I went through as "switching off the fit adjustment with a shake of the controllers" . It was quite terrible and no results in the end.  We bought two Quest Pro's for work and my co-worker experienced no issues at all with her eye/face tracking despite setting up the same way.

I ran into the same issue yesterday. Managed to turn of eye and face tracking which "fixed" the issue. Keeping an eye on this thread for any possible solutions or software updates so I can use those features again. Im on v56

Thank you for getting back to us with that update, @amestes! Since it appears that you have tried all of the necessary troubleshooting steps to no avail, we'd recommend performing a factory reset as this erases everything off your headset and returns it to the software state that it was in when you first took it out of the box.

To perform a factory reset:

  • Turn off your headset.
  • Hold the power and volume down (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
  • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Performing a factory reset will delete all headset content and in-game data, to be started up as if brand new. Purchases previously made will still be linked to your Meta account. In regards to your in-game data, we do have a Cloud Backup which developers can choose to opt-in and out of anytime. The developers can also choose exactly what they would like to be uploaded to the Cloud. Please let us know if this helps to resolve your issue. We will be standing by just in case further assistance is needed!

This tread says "SOLVED" but did anyone actually manage to solve this issue? I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who did but judging from what I read here and other similar treads it seems no one found a solution yet.

After countless hours of troubleshooting and talking back and forth with meta. I eventually got a RMA. Aka, I sent back the headset to meta and got a new unit.

Hope you find a solution that works for you. Check out my other comment on this post about troubleshooting opinions.

If none of them work, request a RMA from support

I meet the same issue and it seems like meta haven't provided any solution to this issue.

Thisbl started happening with me last week after my headset died due to low battery. When it booted back up, no face tracking. It seems so bizarre that this would be an RMA issue. It seems like a software issue and they just don't have a developer actually assigned to look at it, so the support people just send out new headsets because they don't know what else to do. I'm worried I won't be able to get an RMA like others have got, because i bought mine used, and it also means all these headsets will be effectively bricked before too long, since the face tracking is the primary reason anyone has a Quest Pro in the first place

Thank you! PM sent with the number for my support request. After some more research, I'm sure at this point I need an RMA
